How's this? I adjusted original (after cropping in Gallery) in Picasa. I tried to put a circular border around it, but it didn't line up evenly.
Excellent! Do you like it better, worse, or same as what you first posted?

Actually, I would like it between my first post and this last one. My first one has no 'punch' and the this one seems to lack mid-tones. They appear differently on my computer than when I post them to UH. I'm a 'work-in progress' LOL.
Edit: Oops! Your post suggested 'auto contrast' and I didn't do that. See-I'm really a 'work-in-progress.' I'll go back & try again. LOL

Ok - I redid with 1-click fix for lighting in Picasa. I couldn't find 'auto contrast.' I hope this is the same thing.
Like you said, hard to know how colors look on various monitors. It's getting a little brownish now, for me.
The Picasa auto-contrast is first tab (the wrench), in middle of section where the crop and straighten choices are. I just tried, didn't see any difference (using this last one posted).
As for work in progress, remember the joy of the journey. Once it gets tedious, go back outside and shoot more :)

Great thing about moons - so far there is a new one every day....:)

I went back to the original, found the cropping I wanted in Picasa, auto contrast, sharpened and 'voila', I hope this is better
Edited totally in Picasa- this is not how it looked on my computer!

Thank you Gene. How's this?
 Much better. I usually convert mine to B&W and then try to brighten the way it looked to me in the sky. I would go a tad brighter. Otherwise, if you're satisfied. Keep it. -- Gene
PS -Be sure you're saving as a copy and not the original :!:

Thanks, Gene. Yes, I did save it as a copy, but I don't understand why my copy looks so different than when it got posted to UH. My copy is much, much brighter.

I set my camera to Manual, and it wouldn't shoot, so then I set it to A for F/11 and then set shutter to 1/250 sec. ISO was set for 200. Again the camera changed the shutter setting. First shot is out of camera, but cropped, no other processing.
The 2nd one is processed with Kodak Photo Gallery, slightly sharpened.
How'd I do?
You did very well indeed. Be proud of yourself. It has been raining and overcast here both nights - no moon for us.

Great job! You must have been closer (ha, ha). Much better than mine with f9, 200 ISO on a 300mm 2.8D. My 2X was not working as expected, but the 70-300mm worked fairly well also.

Thank you infocus. I'm trying very hard to conquer this camera, but I fear it's winning! LOL. Sorry you had no moon weather. The 10th was the last of the moon weather we'll have for a few days.

I used my 55-300 zoom at 300 mm and cropped it to death in pp. Thank you for your compliments.
I do like your shots. Were those clouds in front of the moon or did you add them? In any case, I really like the effect. I think you did a really great job.
That's pretty impressive, especially with that lens! My two comments would be, one, I agree with an earlier poster that you brighten it a little (which you subsequently did, and I liked it better), and leave it the natural gray/white color. I see to many brownish colored moons, and they don't look natural to me. Having said all that, I think you did a really good job! Keep it up!
