"Ineffable" is the word used to describe something that is too beautiful for description. This one is ineffable.

Taking a portrait of a two-year-old is never planned. It's more like spontaneous combustion.

Rose crawled up onto my dining room chair this afternoon, pulled her favorite blankie up over her head and looked at me. The light spilled through the window, over her blankie and draped her in magic. I just happened to have my D600 with my new 105mm 2.8 micro lens in my hands. I turned the dial to "P" and snapped. Sigh! :)

Gorgeous, stunning....

She will love it forever! You should have it framed for her.

I love your "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" quote. It's so true. That's why you always want that camera within arms reach.
Great image.

Beautiful shot!

Window light, my very favourite for portraits.

This is not a "once in a lifetime shot", but a discovery of the perfect situation for portrait lighting. It can be done again and again if you'll just take the time to take your subject to the light . . . now that you've found the light.

Most north facing windows will produce the same results consistently.

Definitely agree with the suggestion of having this image in a good frame, on the wall. Congratulations!

Beautiful shot Deborah...

Keep your camera always ready! You will have many more favorites in weeks, months, and years to come! As your child grows older and the younger child fades away, your photographs will preserve the memories of what was... and the photos will also be used for comparison for what is yet to come... when your child has children!

P.S. I just viewed some of your earlier posts... I took for granted that she was your daughter... if I am mistaken please forgive my old eyes but you looked young enough to be her mother in your Avatar photo...

Okay, you get a BIG hug, Bruce! Rose is my fourth of five grandchildren. My husband and I are are watching her and her two siblings this week while my daughter recovers from delivering a little brother on Tuesday.
