I don't understand how someone having to show ID to vote is in any way impeding them from voting. They do have to show ID to get any form of government assistance, they do need ID to drive a car or have a bank account and even get a job.
This argument that ID needed to vote just does not make any sense.
Are you telling me that there are vast numbers of people out there who are qualified to vote, American citizens, who don't drive, work, have a job, live in some kind of structure, or get any sort of government assistance?

That is one of the most absurd statements I have seen in awhile. Maybe you need to look up the meaning of a pole tax.
There is nothing you can do in todays world that does not require ID except take a walk around your neighborhood.

Ted, in some neighborhoods in the cities you may be stopped by the police while you are walking and you better have ID or your next meal will be on the city tab, in jail.

Yes, I've run into that. Just try claiming a senior discount without providing ID and proof of age.

For decades mainstream conservatives (of far greater repute than the authors in the link) have resisted the idea of a national identity card, claiming it (among assorted alledged faults) smacked of big government. Could their concerns over illegal immigration and voter fraud lead conservatives to have a change of heart and endorse a national, photo ID?

"What you hear???" What rabid spew are you listening to? Take the vote away from minorities? WTF? Oh, because we'd like to see ALL voters verify who they actually are with some form of FREE identification? The same identification they need to operate a motor vehicle, acquire a library card, cash a welfare check, open a bank account, or fly? God forbid we should "disenfranchise" anyone with a basic necessity...
ok so they don't want to take the vote from minorities, they just want to CONTROL the vote of everyone.

Bottom line: they want to control the vote so the final tally always ends in their favor. Period.
Is there anybody here on these UHH forums that does not have some means of identification available to them?

So how does providing ID to establish your identity allow anyone to control how you vote? With the electric voting machines I think they have all the control they need.

How do you control the votes of everyone if everyone has to have an ID? How is that possible? Everyone who votes should be a Citizen and registered to vote. And you are against this?

I have four ID's. How many ID are you asking for?

Okay, I admit it, this is really going to piss off some of our right wing posters but it's still worth reading to answer the question Are the Democrats declaring a war on Whites or is it simply the delusions, excuses and deflection of the GOP?
Well, I read it, and have to say it is a bitterly slanted indictment of fellow citizens who choose to vote for Republicans, and a whitewash of the U.S. Welfare system. This Tag Line of "War Against__?__" is pure propaganda that the politicos have foisted upon the electorate to justify spending obscene amounts of money on endeavors that have no results and no end. For example, our POOR population has had Trillions of dollars showered upon it for generations in all kinds of duplicitous programs, yet, 40+ years later the "Poor" have multiplied. Welfare is a way of life that goes on from one generation to the next, and in most cases it is a scam that is being perpetrated on the working stiffs of this country, aided and abetted by the politicians to buy their votes. A significant proportion of the recipients of the taxpayers largesse really are pretty consistent workers.....but they tend to work "off the books", all the while also collecting under some program or or other, be it Disability payments, Unemployment, educational stipends etc......and it is looked upon as justifiable and perfectly acceptable by both the recipient and the Bureaucracy, which just looks the other way. There are literally thousands of government programs with little or no oversight that are available to scam, and scammed they are, simply because it is PC to ignore it.
To do otherwise invites scorn and retaliation from the vested interests, and if examined, one finds those vested interests in every so called "WAR AGAINST_______"
Just calling a spade a damn shovel.
