Composition.
It's been over 40 years since I stood where you shot.
I prefer the crops with less trees and more monument in the shot as shown. I also miss the mountains to the left, but they may have interfered with the monument.
Try again at Sunset for an old timer.

Thank you for looking and your advise. I live in New York state and this monument is located in Utah, so I can not redo this picture. Next time i will follow your advise in situation like this. You can crop this picture as you like.

don' take offence please but ,im sure you know that composition is in the eye of the beholder .....and frankly i don't like the picture at all.
Composition is based on what the ignorant person will pick out of a group of photos......someone who knows nothing about art or composition ,simply what appeals to them and then a bunch of rules were made from that.....
just my opinion, but if your picture is picked by a random bunch of people ,
you have achived something. your division of thirds and laying a grid across your frame really isn't as important as made out.
if nit picking i would say ,what is the main subject. It looks like composition is the main subject.
But i do like you signature photo.

James, thank you for your frankly opinion. I prefer frankly opinion to lying like 'excellent', 'perfect' and so on. BTW why you did not post any picture? I would be glad to see your images and learn something from them. Best wishes.
