Your link to Krugman was out of context, and I think you know it. He said none of the things that you attributed to him via that link.

Go back and watch it again but for the specific purpose of understanding what he said about FDR's efforts prior to the war build up... you will see that I am right.

I'm about as liberal as they come, but must disagree. I don't think Blurry needs to get a life, I think he has a good one, nor is he unhappy, he's a good guy. I disagree with him politically but think he's basically a well-informed, happy man. I imagine if you met him, you'd think he was a thoughtful, considerate person. There's a big difference between subjects you disagree on and the person him/her self. Not everything in life is politics. jmho

Well, I'm happy for you. Not sure why you feel the need to defend him, he seems perfectly capable of doing that himself, ad nauseam. I seriously doubt that if I met him I would find him to be a thoughtful and considerate person. He has not shown one ounce of thoughtfulness or consideration to anyone except those who agree with him 100%.

The funny thing about Conservatives who've actually been around long enough to have known 3-4 Presidents is that they seems to approach politics with blinders on. Truth be told, there's little, if anything, conservatives are angry with the Democrats about that their own party hasn't done itself in the past. Bush is brought up a lot in these conversations because he's no less guilty of many of the same things that the Right accuses Obama of. Did we hear the Right scream about his wars that weren't paid for; the tax breaks for the rich that weren't paid for, all the executive orders he signed (more than Obama), the corporate deregulations, the hearings and inquiries that were never held in response to the 50+ people who died at embassies on his watch, the $5.6 trillion surplus he wiped out in two years? Remember when Right-wingers screamed about all that? No? That's because they didn't. But now that the other guy's in the White House...

You are being much to logical. The wingnuts won't understand, so they will just attack you. ;-)

Well Mr. Clear I can see that you have to get your two cents in, this is something that goes between Bazbo, a man who is thoughtful and very capable to speak for himself in a debate, and I that has spanned across a different thread. Now I can excuse you for not understanding the context of my post but I would ascribe to you all that you falsely ascribe to me and more. Bazbo, I have a lot of respect for even though like me he can bloviate as he posts one of his blogs here, and even though I may vehemently disagree with him at times I know that he is well informed and thoughtful, you have yet to show us that you are either.

The funny thing about Liberals who've actually been around long enough to have known 3-4 Presidents is that they seem to approach politics with naive viewpoint and an intolerant mind for the views of others.

I know of few Conservatives who think Bush did a good job of holding down spending or the size of government ---- I doubt you do, either.

As for your piecemeal anecdotes, well, war isn't paid for before you step I to it. If it was it would be ore-meditated and never pass muster. As a fiscal conservative, and trained well in matters of Econ & money, the Bush tax cuts were needed, and fine. You cherry-pick them as budget issues, and il will cherry-pick entitlement programs. Boom! We will never agree on this, so why try, eh?

But, my friend, your comment on a $5.6 trillion surplus goes beyond rumor, beyond being sadly lacking in truth or fact, and falls I to the arena of just plain, fanciful lying.

NEWSFLASH! The surplus was $127 billion (that's with a "B") for 2001, which means 7 of the months included Bush.

Please, at least attempt to be somewhat close to at least fictionary facts.

Yep! Nothing wrong with occasionally being reminded to be civil, and acting like the person you are posting to is standing in front of you, and has family, kids, ideals, aspirations, etc.

With the internet, we all fall into the trap at times of being more severe than we would face to face.

You're right, of course. There's a new movie out on Bush, called "The prosecution of an American President." Worth watching. Makes you want to line Bush and Cheney up against a wall and shoot them. A lot of people, especially those on the Right, forget that when Obama first took office, there was a big outcry to investigate Bush's actions as to why he invaded Iraq, and the truth about WMDs. I think Obama's popularity began to subside when he refused to do anything. The attorney who was going after Bush was the same guy who convicted Charles Manson.

Let me just say that even though Blurry and I agree on almost nothing, we have had a long and respectful exchange accross many months and many threads. Just wanted to say thanks and that I appreciate the exchanges.

Yeah, man! Like, wow! I mean, Bush was the only guy on earth who talked about WMDs in Iraq, man! I mean, like, duuuuude, Clinton (both of them, man), and 27 industrial countries and their intelligence services, like, none of them count, man, 'cause we know it was only Bush!

(Hopefully I effected the proper crazed tone)

Yeah, fb, he's right.......I don't understand blatant lying just to support your sad dogma.

If the data and truth can't support your beliefs, it ain't much of a belief system!

That's fine. You can believe whatever FOX tells you. Most credible sources say otherwise.
