I have run out of patience for the dimwitted postulation that the strongest right wing entities will support politicians dedicated to the demise of the system in which the right flourishes. Calling the Democrats progressives, populists, leftists, or liberals is a favorite trick of the right. Its purpose is to shift so far rightward the political dialogue that true progressive, populist, leftist, or liberal ideas are never heard on public discourse. If they were, there would be national politicians calling for the true progressive, populist, leftist, or liberal agendas already in place in other countries, such as at least four or five months of vacation for a BEGINNING worker, instead of the paltry two weeks corporate America grudgingly grants, a free college education for those capable of doing the work and willing to do it, decent paid maternity leave, even for fathers, a living wage instead of the starvation minimum wage, socialized medicine...
