How Often Is Your Camera With You

When I can't or don't want to carry one of my DSLRs, I attach my P&S (Canon PowerShot G16) case to my belt before heading out the door. Worst case, I can fall back on the tiny little camera in my Samsung Galaxy SIII cell phone.

So, my answer would be: When I go out, I have *some* kind of camera with me 100% of the time.

I say my camera is with me 95% of the time.

That's why I rely on a cell phone or little P&S. I'd never leave a DSLR in a car, especially if it's visible. If I have to leave it in the trunk, I'll drive to another spot before parking the car. The worst thing you can do is put your gear in the trunk and then walk away. You'd be better off leaving it inside the car.

Jerry, I have the windows in both my car AND truck tinted to the legal limit here in Florida. I keep my go bag on the passenger side rear seat (unless I have riders) and you can't really see it... even in bright daylight... because the bag is dark gray and black and it matches my truck seat upholstery perfectly.

Plus, I ALWAYS park in public, either on a street or under a light in plain sight.

So far, so good. ;)

You're the kind of guy chiropractors dream about! (joke)

Well; I'm a pretty big guy... but I get your point.

I have a smaller sling bag that I'll take when I "wander off into the woods" and the go bag STAYS in my truck or car. When I go light, it's just cargo pants with 2-3 lenses and my Black Rapid strap and the rest stays put. So my Chiropractor doesn't get much business because of the camera bag. ;)

Corollary question: At what % do we begin to shift from just a bunch of anal retentive folks to true photo geeks?

Almost always have my P&S, and add my big Canon when I'm on a shoot. Canon has a 55-250 mm and the P&S has some great macro features so I'm covered for most things.

Kind of a cause and effect question. Which came first, the chicken or the tripod?

According to my dictionary, they are synonyms.

I always have a camera on me; whether it be my canon 6D; My Sony RX100; or my iPhone. You never know right?

I know if I don't have my camera on me something interesting will happen right in front of me.

I think also part of the reason as well I want to ramp up my game so to speak. I feel I may want to shoot something if I'm out and about. I want to work on my composition. I want to intuitively know the right exposure shutter speed ISO. Yesterday I had a follow up appointment and I just bought a polarizing filter. So I stopped at a park briefly took a few shots. Then on my way home stopped and took a few pics at the skateboard park.
I bought a few new lenses off eBay this past year and just want to see how they work limitations etc.

Great shot! It brings up another point, which I suppose could be a separate topic, but I wanted to reference your photo as it is a good example. Nikon seem to have a case of the "blues" when shooting outdoors from say, 10am through 2pm. This is especially true when using older lenses with older coatings. When we look at an object lit by light with differring color temperatures, our eyes automatically correct the color. Our cameras do that to some degree, but some still render colors cooler than that others. Olympus seems to have the best opinion of natural outdoor color rendition, at least to these eyes. Nikon on the other hand seems to think cooler is more correct. I was wondering if anyone else changes the color in their Nikon? I an using (in the camera) plus 2 red and plus 2 yellow.

I carry a Nikon point/shoot with me in my car 100% of the time. I never carry my DSLR unless I am going shooting. I carry the camera in my car in case of an accident, a UFO (never seen one), or a once in a lifetime shot.
