Thanks for all of the good information! But, I believe I may be more confused than before! LOL! When I decide and finally take the plunge, I'll
(post which one I bought. Thanks, again!

If we can be of help, just ask.
Maybe read and reread the thread a dozen times to see if it gets clearer.
good luck. ;-)

Bottom line....its a personal preference at this point. If you can get a 7D for 999 I would go that route. Its a better deal. I had to make the same decision last fall and at that time 7D were still pushing 1500-1700 for a body if I remember right. I got my 70D and a new lens I wanted for the same price. I posted what my 70d did so far earlier. Would a 7d be better. Probably. But I'm satisfied.

Ok, I finally decided on a camera. I purchased a canon 70D. I've been taking for for about 8 yrs. The first camera was a rebel and I loved it. The next camera was a canon 30D, also loved it. Felt was comfortable with it. The only reason I upgraded was because it was going to cost too much to have it repaired. Now, I'm trying to figure the 70D out and so far I am ready to pack it up and return it. I am so frustrated with my football pics. I need help please!

Day time or night time on the football?

I have two 70D's ......... love them! If you have the right lens on the 70D for football it does fine, no it isn't going to be as good for forgiving as a 5D MIII but never less will give you acceptable stills for personal use and sharing with players/family. It's all about the wide open F/Stop on the lens if it's on a 70D which doesn't do well at high ISO's. A lens with a stop of F/2.8 that is long enough, a 70-200mm 2.8 will marginally do on a 70D which gives you a equivalent of a 115-320mm. Your OK up to around 1600 ISO on the 70D for night time football with minor noise reduction in PP. Shutter should be between 1/800 & 1/1250

What are the conditions under which you are shooting?
What lens are you using?
What settings are you using?
What issues are you having?
Posting a photo would be a help. Make sure to check "Store Original".
That could all help provide you with answers.

7DII introduced in last week. Barn burner. It is like a crop sensor 1DX. Faster, stronger, amazing focus--can leap buildings in a single leap......
But I still use my 7D a lot. Built like a tank and keeps on ticking. Pic from a couple of days ago with 24-105L lens.

I will probably get the 7DII. I never liked the 60D or 70D because the build was not up to the 50D or 7D caliber, although they appear to be fine cameras.

Every few months there have been rumors about an impending 7D mark II. The latest ones from a few months ago indicated that there would be an announcement in August. Since then I'm not aware of any other rumors. If it was going to be annouced in a couple of weeks we would have heard something by now, I would think. The 7D will be 5 years old at the beginning of September. That's practically ancient in digital terms. The only reason its still a practical choice for some people is because it was so advanced when it was introduced. Frankly I'm starting to doubt a Mark II version will ever be introduced.

The flowers on the lower part of that dress appear to be stretched and distorted. How did you achieve that effect??

Here are a few at different times during the game. Evening games, different fields, different lighting. So, I'm have to adjust the settings.......I just can't get the pics I want. I'm very frustrated, I'm trying to take pics for the senior boys! I was spot on, sharp pics with my 30D and now I get a few good ones and a lot of bad ones.

Another guy was also taking pics and he told me a couple of different settings to try but my pics do not look at his at all! (he has a 60D) He also said he thought the pictures looked darker on my screen than they did when I posted them. I really want to get to the point that I don't have to do so much editing.

Very minimal photoshop work, slight sharpening. We were changing locations in park and she just leaned into the tree. I wasn't sure it would be a good image because of the sun hitting her here and there, but overall turned out well.
