I recently bought an OP/Tec hand strap - yep wanted it rather than needed it - now I have a full set of Op/Tecs - single & double harnesses + the hand strap.

OP/TECH every time, and my hand is usually holding it, too.
I even have the strap on my neck while using a tripod or mono pod when I am actively moving from one point to another - I learned a lesson one time before I had the little locks on the quick release plates.

I always have a strap around my neck unless the camera is mounted on a tripod.
What is your preference? We are talking about camera's...gutter heads!
There is also the option of a wrist strap, several styles but I like the kind that has the extra strap that snaps after you put your wrist through the loop.
I tried that but exchanged it for the Double Sling.
A tip: When you're buying photo gear, the manufacturer's site will generally list items at full list price, so as not compete with their distributors. Buying from Adorama, and others, will save you money over the Op/Tech site.
I use a single OP/Tech strap for my D7000 with a Nikon 70-300 lens. Works great but one side of my neck tends to get sore after a few hours, and swinging it to the other side feels weird. Can this strap be used to carry one camera in the middle, I guess near the top of my abdomen? Would the camera bounce around in that position? Thanks for a reply.
I compromise on this issue. I add a 3/4 inch ring to each of the mounting points on my camera bodies and on appropriate lenses. Then I put metal clips on all the straps. That makes it easy to add or remove straps as the situation dictates. That way I don't have straps tangling up in my tripod but they are easy to add if I'm carrying multiple cameras

You can go strapless, but sooner or later you may pay the price! Years ago I was in Glacier National Park and witnessed a Hasselblad go on a falling trip to the tune of about 1000 feet. The camera had a strap, but it was not around the gentleman's neck!
