????
I have used the OpTech straps since 1982, I was actually one of their very FIRST customers when they were still hand-sewn in a garage workshop. I still use that very first strap today, as well as several others. In 32 years I have never had a failure of those plastic buckles, nor any other issues at all with the OpTech products. Perhaps you can reference an actual verified failure?? I sure cannot find one, and I am at the factory picking up orders every couple months and some of the damaged straps they have there for viewing that are still functional are amazing!

Actually, I beg to differ. Been using Op/Tech straps (especially the bino-harness) for a long time now, never a problem.
Several other people I know use Op/Tech straps, no complaints from them about breaking clips, nor have I read reports of them breaking, on various forums. So, I wonder where that notoriety comes from????

Well, I may have overstated this, using the word "notorious". I apologize. I had a friend lose a camera when one broke and I thought I had read about this happening to others. So I went on line and I'm relieved to find that these little clips are, in fact, very reliable and that most people have very little problem with them breaking.
I will still keep the Velcro on one side of my camera and on the back clip for added safety. I value my Nikon and heavy lenses too much to wait for the one time that something might go wrong.

Indeed. I have never heard of a clip failing would like to know the source(s) as well. ;)

Always with a strap - never without one.

Well, Mr. PC... those plastic clips are notorious for breaking, so I would order some Velcro safety straps for it. You can use the camera with your Optech attached. Just put the velcro on the right side clip and not on the left side clip, so you can release part of the strap when using using the camera. That way the camera is always attached on one side...
just in case you have a plastic clip failure. 8-)

Thanks. I thought the problem with the clips was overstated or erroneous information that you may have had passed along to you. These clips are used on all types of equipment and are very reliable. ;)

Strapped for me.
I concur with Jerry B.
Just a good idea if you like your camera.

And besides, I never have to set it down. I can just let it hang out.
The girls giggle when you have a lens hanging between your legs.

He sure has a way about him. I guess that his (quite new) membership and his vast experience in posts had imbued him with the right to assume that all members have filthy minds. I guess I'm a gutter head too; I like hand straps sometimes.

OP-TECH something or the other. But it's my opinion that a bit of string is as good as the advertising straps supplied with many cameras. And the string doesn't advertise what you're carrying!

I believe that the concern is minimal to non existent also. These buckles now are used in all sorts of applications. Survival, military, hunting, hiking, parachuting etc. etc. etc. They are UV and chemically stable. I have found that if you are buying knock offs you are at risk but the same is true with knock off metal components.

BTW I never pull my camera out of the bag without some sort of a strap either wrist or sling at the ready.

Black Rapid sling (single or double) if I am at an event where I will be wearing a suit. Cotton Carrier if I am out backpacking or hiking with either one or two cameras.

I often shoot events with two cameras, so a strap/carrying system that can accommodate two cameras is critical.

OP/TECH every time, and my hand is usually holding it, too.
