They are made all the time, although yours was the first I have ever read attacking and categorizing all veterans (now only on the forum evidently) in an insulting way. A lot of people seem to be still fighting over things that happened in Jerusalem a thousand years ago. What a conquering people owe to the people they conquered is an interesting debate which I might engage in if you didn't call me ignorant. Rude is not the best way to advance your point. I do believe that it is a misguided statement, those who are claiming the right of illegal immigration because of ancestry obviously are not even from the lands that they claim! Again, there is no connection, these people who are born in a different country just because of their ethnicity are now claiming rights to American land... its bs if the truth be told they have no connection or claim to the land.... Its pretty simple, and we can not undo history even if we wanted to and I assure you that we don't... we can only deal with the here and now and move forward.

My heritage is American Cherokee. I still have relatives who refuse to handle a $20 bill because Andrew Jackson's picture is on it.

Speaking only for myself, I do not think anyone owes me anything in particular. What the dominant culture does owe, however, is an awareness of their crimes and respect for the victims of their crimes, and the victims ancestors. Ancestors who still suffer the effects of the crimes that were committed many generations ago. Awareness and respect is all I ask. Most Native people I know feel the same way.

We must be aware of our history, but not trapped by it. Eyes forward.
