I agree 100%. Some people just need to have attention, and by trying to be humorous or funny, they, in my opinion, make themselves look stupid by 'butchering' a brand or store name.

It's sort of the same thing as calling Walmart 'Wallyworld.' So Juvenile, like something a kid would say.

I think I will just stick with my Canon 18-200....I did try out the Tamron lens yesterday....Don't think I would be gaining anything. And also the VR is not as good as the IS in the Canon. I think the focus is also slower..But I am a newbie so it is hard for me to judge..And then a pro photographer told me last night to stick with the Canon...
Thanks everyone for you opinions.
I apologize for the Wrong spelling of Tamron on the first post...Darn Auto correct.....
Thanks

It was caused by the auto correct on my computer.....I did NOT want to butcher the name.....It was an honest mistake. Sorry if I offended anyone. I contacted Admin as soon as i noticed it, but you people were quick in picking up on it. Sorry

I wasn't trying to be funny...It was the auto correct on my computer. Sorry if you were offended.

Oh, I'm not offended. It wasn't directed at me at all. I couldn't care less about it, i was just voicing my opinion.

Forget the 18-270 - and instead get the Tamron SP 70-300 VC.

I have both the Canon and Tamron. Purchased the Tamron 4 years ago. The auto focus died after 2 years. Tamron honored the 7 year warranty and repaired lens and have had no trouble since. I acquired the Canon recently from a friend. Took same shots from each lens (on auto) and showed them to a photographer friend of mine. He said, although he is prone to pick the Canon over the Tamron, he could find little difference in the two. Hope this helps.

I have the Canon 60D with the Canon 18-200 is lens. Thinking about getting the Tamron 18-270 lens..any opinions on comparison of these 2 lenses. Hope I can get some good advice from this wonderful site.

I'm also a Canon shooter with a 28-200, a very sharp and perhaps 97% accurate lens but now discontinued. I've had a bad experience with Tamron so I won't buy their products.

For me it's always Canon. These are the lenses specifically designed for Canon cameras. My advice: Stick with Canon.

Exactly! I really did get a laugh out of it and after the way the day had gone it was a welcome laugh! And I also knew exactly what you were referring too.

My 2 cents. I have the Canon 18-200. Before buying it I looked at the Tamron and Sigma and did some research. Comparison tests showed the Canon produced sharper images so although I lost some focal length I bought the Canon. Having said that if you need or want the extra focal length then either the Tamron or Sigma, in that order, would probably satisfy you because the difference in IQ was mostly noticeable only when zooming in.
