By the way, the SL1 is actually a very capable camera, especially for its price point, and when used with Canon glass (like Sharpie said, the STM lenses). It's an entirely different type of camera than the Olympus. It does warrant a long, hard look. Upon your return from Europe, the Oly will make you want to sell all of your Nikon gear, and further develop your Olympus system, I'm sure. :D

The Fuji X system is very much in play. Check out DPR for reviews.

While waiting for my M240, I tried the EM5. Really impressed. Did I not have a plethora of Leica lenses, I may have gone with the Oly. Lenss were reasonable and I liked the camera layout.

Have you though about any of the Fuji's ? I have the XE2 . It's a great kit with great sensor and a great feel and retro look.

It weighs nothing, great glass, and infinite options.Get it, you won't be disappointed. (Just finishing 2 months in Italy, by the way.)

Fujifilm X-E2 with the "kit" lens. I put the word "kit" in quote marks because the optics of this lens I find remarkable.

If doing general photography, then a cameraman may need no other lens for this outstanding camera.

Good luck.

So far I found the Sony A6000 to be great. It's light, super fast when put in continuos shooting mode & takes very sharp pictures.

Bought the OMD M1 with the 12-40 objective in October last year. Opted for Olympus on account of my complete satisfaction with the C-5060 years ago and (to a lesser extent) with the E510 later on.
Took the OMD to Rome and lately to Bulgaria and shot 4000 pictures altogether. Very handy camera with an excellent picture quality, but you have to read the manual. Also don't overdo it with the water proofing.
If I had been more patient or better informed, I would have waited for the OM 10. It seems the capabilities of the equipment have grown faster than my proficiency to make the best use of them.

I have the OM1, I bought it a few weeks ago for $965 (body only) from a South Korean dealer on eBay. It works fine and Oly has an international warranty.

When you get yours you should be sure to update the firmware as there have been a number of improvements. Allow yourself some time as the camera is not at all intuitive. I have been using the Canon 5D III and boy is the OM1 different. There is a large book out you can find on Amazon that I found essential. The Oly manual is not great.

I thought long and hard about the Fuji XT-1. Much, much more fun and easy to use. Also lighter than the Oly and with lovely Fuji color and the ability to mimic old film. It also has a larger APS -C sensor and a great lenses.

I went with the Oly because the image stabilization is superb and I have a number of Micro 4/3 lenses from my days with the Panasonic G5.

The Fuji viewfinder is also far superior no matter what you may read to the contrary.

I'd love to have both.

The Sony 7R someone mentioned is very loud and unless you print very large you sure can't get the benefit of all those pixels without a tripod as the Sony also is not stabilized.

The image stabilization was a big deciding factor for me. i did look at the Fuji which btw is great but limited in lens comparability. Olympus glass is superb especially with the pro line lenses. Just a question- as Panasonic lenses are compatable with the olympus OMD Doea anyone have any idea about leica comparability with the OMD.

The panasonic 25 f1.4 and 42.5 f1.2 are some of the best glass for m4/3. They are branded leica.

Sony NEX 7. They've replace it with the 6000, but I understand it doesn't have quite the quality of viewfinder.

Up until a week ago I just owned the Canon 6d, which I truly love, until my recent purchase of the Fuji xt1. Although I didn't have a problem with the weight and size of the 6d I was totally floored by the comparative size and weight difference of the Xt1. More importantly, the images are as gorgeous as the camera's retro style look. There are plenty of reviews on this camera so I won't get into it but I highly recommend this camera.

I use the Olympus OMD EM-1 camera. I'll hold back on all my lenses, but if you want one camera and one lens. It would be Olympus EM-1 and Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 zoom lens.

Inclosed photos were all made on a moving boat from Salem to Boston, MA. Photos made at ISO 200.

Your photos will be TOP-FLIGHT. Most photographers shoot beyond f8 & 11 don't even think about it. Plus you have two apertures to open, f4 & f2.8. You do not have to shoot at f8 so do not be alarmed.

I switched to digital 7 yrs. ago and I'm still learning. My 35mm film camera was a LEICA R8.

Photos inclosed made with Olympus EM 1 & Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 zoom.

Compact camera and easy to use. You do need extra batteries.
I'd take three extra with charger and EURO adapter.

You will not go wrong with this equipment. It is very rugged
and resist water. Check this camera out at your camera store, you will not be disappointed.

In what way is the OM 10 superior to the OM-1?
