I know what you mean about the stand-up 3/4 shot. At the Nationals, all the cell-photographers were lining up for that snapshot of the new Z/28. I think everyone on the road knows what the current Camaro looks like so I took a different view.
I wanted a Mustang to be my 1st car in 1974. 6 months of hitchhiking to work after school netted a Rangoon Red `65 2+2 fastback for (you guessed it) $450.00. I scattered 2 transmissions in 2 weeks, pulled the engine for my second `Stang and sold the body for a mere seventy-five dollars. Like girlfriends, you never forget your first one.

I know what you mean. My first was a metallic blue 66 Mustang 6cyl 3spd coupe with the sprint package(I still have the wire wheel hubcaps). My dad and I bought it for $2000 in August of 1967. Over the next two years, I broke every gear in the T96 transmission and put various dents in all four corners. A wet highway, and a 65 Galaxie making a panic stop in front of me ended her life. She was gone, but she did introduce me to my bride, and we were married for 45 years.

Awesome story jsmangis, they do bring back memories of great rides, cheap gas and simpler times...

Definitely beat the looks of the cars of today.

Though the cars today seem to be much more reliable and I cannot remember the last time a choke stuck and flooded a carb on a zero degree winter morning....oh the good old days!

One of my neighbors bought an old(1962) Ford pickup truck at an auction. He called me because he had trouble starting it in the mornings. He asked me what that knob on the dashboard with the letter "C" was used for. I almost lost it, but kept my composure and explained how the choke worked and how to use it. Today's automobiles are way too complicated. I know they are more efficient and reliable, but when something goes wrong, they cost as much to fix as we used to spend to buy a used car.
