You could go to Antelope Island. It's $9 to enter. You can see all kinds of wildlife. Just go slowly and keep your eyes opened.

Thanks. I looked it up, but coming from the east coast I wonder about strange things like traffic. About how long would it take to get there from Park City? (60+ miles around DC can take me a day or two sometimes ;-) )

you are looking at about an hour from park city to antelope island maybe alittle more during the day. you most likely wont find snow out there just a lot of brown and buffalo and antelope and hawks and deer

Couple of more options if you have a car. Head up to Snowbird or Alta ski areas. They are on the wasatch front facing SLC. You get more dramatic mountain shots from there than Park City as well as some good views of SLC down below. If you want to get pics there do it in the afternoon or early evening to get the sunset. In the mornings its all in shadow.

Another area to check out are the Salt Flats about 60 miles west of SLC. Its so flat there that the hills in the distance look like they are floating.

And don't pass up Temple Square in SLC, the Temple offers some very dramatic photo ops.

One last area you might try is Strawberry Res. about 40-50 miles past Heber City. They offer snowmobile rentals (at least they used to) that can get you into some very senic backcounty.

Have fun, wish I was back there.

LOL!
I'll have to ask my husband. We've been up to Park City a few times but only to pass through. When at Antelope Island....you can walk out to the beach and walk in the Great Salt Lake. Now they have boardwalks to the beach. No more breaking your back trying to get back UP to the car park.

Thanks all....I knew the knowledge was out there! Can't wait. Us easteners get excited about mountains. Don't hardly see none around here. I'll be sure to post some pics when I return. In the meantime, if any more ideas pop up, be sure to let me know. Again, thanks!

Almost forgot....Erv, thanks for the offer, but I just can't let you bear my burdens. The instamatic is a heavy load.

Its possible to drive up into the mountains just east of Tooele, (about 15 miles sw of SLC) and look down into the copper mine. Those monster mining trucks look like ants down there. Problem is that at that time of year I dont think you can get up there due to the snow.
