I looked at Photbucket today after reading some the eariler posts on this thread. I liked what saw and signed up. I am in the process of moving from Apertrue Academy into Photobucket. I only have few pictures in Aperture Academy and was not using that site, but because Photobucket offers my freedom in how the pitcures are sorted is my reason for the change.

I use " dropshots " i have about 20,000 pics on there, [ i do my grandsons sport teams], you send out the link and password to anyone you like. You can put them in specific albums etc. It does have a cost, $30.00 a year , i believe. People can buy pics off the site so you don't have to get pics developed and mail them if they insist on hard copy.
People can add their photos to it, and make comments on your photos. I SUGGEST STRONGLY , that you ask people NOT TO.

I'm totally satisfied with the site. I have an external harddrive that i also put all photos on to back-up and protect them. I keep it disconnected until i need it. Hope this helps

I would use Flicker. You can somewhat protect your pictures there. I used to use PhotoBucket until I started noticing my pics on other websites. I immediately shut down my account with them since they did not offer copywright protection.

Can anyone give me some info on some web sites that I can use to display photos on? Like a gallery and a portfolio for friends, family, and clients can veiw. Either something thats already established for that sort of thing or something I can build myself. Of course I looking for something that is free for now just to get started. Thanks for the help.

I agree photobucket is nice. Limit is 200 photos for free.

I have tons of photos...don't know where you get the limit of 200 phootos for free. I have a free version of PhotoBucket and I have storage for unlimited photos and up to 500 videos...that is for non-commercial use.

And someone said he/she saw her photos on someone elses site? That is because YOU ALLOW it. You can stop that by making your folders PRIVATE with a password that you give to those whomever you wish to see them. NO one can see your PRIVATE Folders unless you let them.

Build your own photo gallery site (Weebly.com) . . . link it to social media sites. I set this one up in less than one hour, and update it regularly. I post to Facebook and Twitter when I have a new post, and get lot's of traffic that way. Let me know if you need help. www.justinround.com
