Can anyone give me some info on some web sites that I can use to display photos on? Like a gallery and a portfolio for friends, family, and clients can veiw. Either something thats already established for that sort of thing or something I can build myself. Of course I looking for something that is free for now just to get started. Thanks for the help.

Just a note:
Use a site that allows viewers to go from one image to another with a simple "click".
I don't like it when I have open and close, open and close........

Thanks A10 I not a fan of Flickr but I will check out Smugmug
My friends use Picasa. On Flickr I think you can only put so many photos on before you pay for the Pro acct.

For right now, I'm using DropBox, which is nothing more than cloud storage. But, by default, there is a 'Photos' folder. If you create a sub-folder and drop photos in there, then select the 'Gallery' view, you'll be given opportunity to copy the URL to those photos. Simply mail that link to those that you want to see the photos. I recognize this isn't designed for the general public to 'browse' your photographic handiwork, but I find the functionality more than adequate and it's free (up to 2GB).

Thanks Judy, I had Picasa on my old computer but never really used it and I just checked it out and did not know that they had a web gallery too. Thanks for the info and im gonna check it out some more.
photosig is an excellent site that i highly recomend but it is provisional. you have to critique so many of others photos for the right to submit your images for critique.

I have tons of pics in Photobucket. No problems with it over the years.
I use Zenfolio; it's good, nice interface, pretty cheap or free.
One thing to think about is hosting of the originals. Do you need storage of your original pictures in their original state?
Only certain sites with certain levels of service offer that.
I use picasa. One thing I like about it is that you can have a folder set up for family only, or for only those who have the link, all images do not have to be viewed by the public. I have several albums there, and some of family are viewed only by family, although most of them are open to the public. It's good to have that choice. It's easy to upload, and easy to write captions, etc.
Try snapfish. It is private. All you do is send a link to someone and they can see it, and it is free.

I highly recommend SmugMug, although I don't know that it's necessarily any better than other recommendations you're likely to get back. Relatively inexpensive, some flexibility in display options and levels of service, commercial/pop-up free, virtually unlimited storage, and easy third-party accessibility, and terrific customer service.

I use Zenfolio. You send an invitation to those you want to see your work and they don't have to register or sign in to see it. You get your own web page and can design it the way you want. There is a 14 day free trial and annual fees for the 4 levels of membership are $25, $50, $100 & $250
