Well I stopped and got some ruff cut Cedar on my way home tonight. If the weather gets warm enough I will make the sawdust fly. Got some plans on the net. Looks like mine are way to short. I will post some when I get them done. :) Soon to be Blue Bird heaven In the back yard! ;)

We had several BB houses when we lived in KY. We were told to face them East... and were successful with nesting BB's each year.

Ya, all mine are that direction. That way the weather comes from the west and doesn't go inside.

I have even had them nest in real high bird houses but darn,I can`t think of the name but they are about 15-20 ft off the ground and I would have to put my camera on a monopod and set the slft time and take a hit or miss photo like that. Good thing it was digital so I could see what I was doing wrong.

Jerry; Nice pic of a red headed woodpecker We have a lot of the downies but not redheads. Is that a homemade feed block? Loks like they really like it.

Erv; don't be surprised when the Tree Swallows tske over your boxes after the first brood. I had six boxes in one field and the swallows had nests in all six boxes. they're a good bird but by the time they are ready to fledge the inside of the box looks like it was white washed. Good thing they only have one brood per year. hope your new boxes work out!

My favorite is the Blue Bird with his head sticking out of his house.
