I have a Rebel XTi 10mp that I got brand new 4 years ago for $600. The deal you're being offered is a complete rip off. Go to Craigslist or Ebay - you can find real good deals there.

Keep the SD 1000 in addition to your new choice. It is very difficult to find a small camera with a view finder now-a-days. Glad I kept mine.

sounds like a lot of money. check out B&H and Adorama and see what deals they have. They also finance. First settle on what you want and then start shopping.

It sounds like a bad deal to me. I have Canon T1i and paid less for it brand new than your phone company wants for a lesser camera. In my personal experience in dealing with phone companies, I've learned to loathe the phone company. But that's just me.
If you want to spend $600 + for a camera, you might want to deal with a reputable company such as B&H or Adorama. If you want to pay over time, you can usually use the 'Bill Me Later' option through paypal online offered by some these companies and you will have low monthly payments. I have had to buy some of my gear that way.

Skip the phone company offer. Consider you will find yourself locked into a contract for the duration, buying a camera that uses older technology. Meanwhile, you may become better informed and skilled doing digital photography.

Yet you will have this outdated camera, and may feel the need to upgrade. What will you do with this outdated camera that while still useful, may no longer suit your purposes? It could become a conversation piece, or you could give it to a younger person starting to learn photography.

Try to arrange to buy a brand-new camera (with the kit lens to begin) from Canon. The Canon Rebel T2i can produce pro-quality images. And yes, some Web stores have payment plans that you should review before agreeing to the phone company offer.

Note that Canon occasionally offers refurbished cameras for sale, including the T2i.

Almost for sure, you will eventually want to upgrade your kit lens to another with better optics for improved results. Check out both Canon and Sigma lenses.

I use the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 IS Macro Lens as my walking around lens for very good pictures. I can recommend this lens.

No matter which way you go, prepare yourself for a learning curve, both for the camera and the image-editing software necessary to process your photographs. The challenges involved bring rewards. A well done photograph makes the struggle worthwhile.

Good luck.

I agree with several others, it is better to pay for a CAMERA, not interest on a loan! You can always get more for your money that way.

I have to agree with just about everyone here, that's too much money given the market today.

I have an XS at 10mp and it's an excellent camera but at today's prices you'd be better off buying a t1i at 15mp for about the same money.

I understand about having the cash available to buy out right but it still would be a waste of $200 or so over a new
XS, Xti or 40D.

But what ever you do, I'm sure you'll enjoy your camera.
Good Luck

That comes to 1344.00 by my calculations. Don't know which camera model it is. Does it come with a lens, if so what lens? Bruce M.

Not really..... $672. $28 per month for 2 months, but still too expensive. AND, if the buyer has a problem with that camera, is the phone company going to take it back? Not without a lot of hassle.

At present I am using a Canon Powershot SD 1000, just a little camera. I have been wanting to get a new camera, but haven't had the funds.

I find out today, that my phone company has a special offer of a Canon Rebel Camera w/USB interface (10 megapixel), a memeory Card ( it doesn't say what size.) a Camera Case, and a gift certificate to an online photo procesing company. All for $28 a month for the next 2 years. My question is, is this a good deal? would you pay that for this particular camera? And is this camera a good camera?

I know that I have enjoyed small Canon that I have, and have gotten some great pictures with it, but it doesn't have the capability of the shots that I really would like to get. (like the moon, wildlife at a distance, etc,)

Thanks in advance for your input and advise.

I agree. It might not be a good deal. Keep this in mind however, you would be able to start using the camera right away. I shoot with a Nikon D50 with low megapixels. Amazing pictures. Maybe a used Dslr would be the way to go. You can buy a good used D50 with lens for around $250.00. Just a thought.

I have twenty four months in my year times two equals forty eight months times twenty eight. It's good thing I'm not your accountant. Bruce M.
