I love this idea. It's a wonderful thing to see all of our state capitals. Neither of mine is there yet and I don't have one. I hope someone will. (Al & Tn)
Thanks....glad you are enjoying the project. Would love to get Nashville. I have been there several times and have parked our RV at J. Priestly Corps of Engineers Park. Love your website. I used to be into horses and have broken three TN Walker two-year olds. That was when I lived in Kentucky. Nothing like a Walker, although I have also owned 3-5 gaited. But mine were not all that expensive--just good looking with nice gaits.

Love those horses with the good gaits. We have had as many as 77 at one time, all directly by world grand champions and 2 we raised won yearly championships, but I love riding the flat shod ones.

Wish you had more. You are my most prolific contributor. This capitol is unique indeed
West Virginia state Capital

What a cool idea Citation!
I see photosbyhenry has already posted the current Indiana capitol building in Indianapolis so I thought I would post the first capitol building. Corydon was the first capitol of Indiana from statehood in 1816 till January 10 1825 when the capitol was moved to Indianapolis. How many of you knew that? :) Corydon is in southern Indiana and was more central to the population then. Vincennes was the first capitol of the Indiana Territory from 1800 to 1813, then in 1813 it was moved to Corydon. Also the Indiana constitution was drafted under an elm tree in Corydon because it was just too hot in the state house in June of 1816 (that elm died in 1925). So ends your short Indiana history lesson.
Hard to get a good picture of the front ;)

What gorgeous shots Chrissa. I was driving from Kentucky to VA on wintry night, and the snow was so bad that a stopped at the Holiday Inn in Charleston. The snow taxed both of Charleston's snow plows, and many state workers had to stay at the Inn too. It was quite a party!

Most interesting history and stone building. Never heard of Corydon, but my great grandfather and his oldest son entered the Civil War together from Vincennes.

Still no McDonalds. They tried a number of years ago, but it didn't go thru. Montpelier was chosen as the capitol because it's close to the geographical center of the state. Those 'practical' Vermonters figured that everyone had equal access to it that way!

Montpelier, VT is the only state capital city without a McDonalds--at least that was the case a couple of years ago when I shot this photo.
Stupid Floridians the state capitol is over 10 hours drive from Miamai they could move it to Orlando much more sensible

Yes, Orlando needs more traffic. LOL But I have always wondered why the Capital was so far north. Maybe they wanted to be closer to DC. :>)

Glad you posted this one. It was quite a week in Indianapolis.
This is the fourth newest Capitol--built in 1938 after the old one burned. It is modern Greek architecture and is constructed with Danbury Vermont marble.
