This goes to show that things are not always as they first appear. Press photographers use this all the while to present a less that ideal image of celebrities. A fleeting change of expression caught by the camera can, with a clever tag line, show the person as drunk, angry, tired and emotional, whatever they think will sell more papers.
Thanks for sharing your insight...and the second shot. The fellow strikes me as being tough but capable of a good laugh.
I like the background, too - plus that it is muted. Adds lot of zing!
Hi Graham..as always a great shot..wish I was in the SMOKE
would love to get to meet you.next time I'm home.
Now I know the basis for Jeff Dunham's dummy, "Walter".
The contrast between the before and after pictures is startling. Well done!

Graham, I don't remember ever seeing a street photograph by you that I didn't like.
Question: Do you ever offer your subjects a gratuity? Money, beer, sandwich, etc.? Just wondering.

Hey, Bmac, maybe we can get together one of these days and roam around Times Square? I work in the area. Just let me know.

If I offered something to them all I'd be a poor man... hang on! I am a poor man already.

Consider yourself rich in talent and fans. :)
Love your photo. I am reading and looking at everything I can find on street photography. I will probably find the spine to actually do it in a month or so. One step at a time.
I believe that "feint" is the very nature of Street Photography, but definitely not for the "Faint" Hearted.

Beauty is as beauty does...or so it is said. This fellow has a lot of character in his face, and one has to wonder what his story is. I also wonder how fast you can run or are you using a long lens to give you a head start?

This was shot with a 35 mm lens on a FF camera. I never use long lenses for street photography. I don't run (not that I've ever needed to) I use my natural charm to protect me :D
