Well then I suggest that if you receive SS or medicare that you leave the country and go to one that does not spend more than it earns namely Somalia. They have no SS or medicare, military, police or government.

Then again, one can increase taxes and pay for what you and I voted for in the past!

And at what point does the taxation become too much? How much do you keep increasing taxes to support progressive ideas?
How much do you increase taxes to pay for 400,000 dollar statues in Pakistan
I also submit that you are making assumptions about me without any evidence when I in fact I collect no medicare or social security, Everything I have I worked for and earned.
I also am not allowed to spend more than I earn. So why is it so wrong to expect the government to do the same?
I further submit that if you support continued tax increases to support a wasteful overbloated and overbearing federal government that daily exceeds the authority granted it in the constitution, that you are living in the wrong country and should relocate to a country more in line with your way of thinking,

I would venture to say that our political process is broken.

That's what it seems like to an outsider...(that's possibly objective)

Not that I know much about politics. :|

If the rule of a country was up to me, I would have a democratically elected "dictator" run the country.
A dictator with power to say yeah or nay to any and every issue... except for the issues of the term of "leadership" and the democratic electoral process at the end of the term.

A camel is a horse designed by a committee.

That leaves the horse that must have been designed by an autocrat as it looks better rides better and has a better nature.

Hey RP, what is your side doing to make anything better?? They separate us on every level. Rich - Poor. White - Black. Young - Old. I don't see anything of accpmplishment comming from the left, except blame Bush.

Your only error here is

I do not think that democracy is working

The United States is not a democracy, It was established as a constitutional republic and there is a very large difference between the 2.
this country became the strongest and greatest on earth thanks to the wisdom of the founding fathers who realized that in a true democracy any majority could trample the rights of the minority simply by voting their rights away. A constitutional republic protects the rights of all by narrowly defining the role of the central government and reserving most rights to each individual state or individuals themselves

What liberals/progressives are now doing is ignoring that constitution and literally voting away the rights of the states and individuals and attempting to turn us into a democracy with some pretty awful results
Your only error here is br i br I do not think... (show quote)

I appreciate your correction to my idea of what kind of government we have. I agree plainly that the majority is not educated enough as to decide what is best to the country and its people and it is fairly easy to be manipulated. What we really lack is leadership...we need really inspired, honest politicians. Is it that possible within the times we are living?

Coming to any agreement with two sides is difficult, Pepper, but with three parties, nearly impossible. I'm not sure about the exact numbers in the Ryan meme, but this is the gist of it.

The majority of the Republican Party, from what I've read, think Ryans budget is a joke. Try coming up with something else.

Maybe you could read the posts by your fellow libs and explain the hatred, misinformation and down right ignorance expressed.

I think the only thing posted above that makes sense is Carters statement. Charity begins at home.

Another liberal better idea

There is very dangerous legislation making its way through both the House of Representatives and Senate that will finish the United States. The sharia bill calls for Islamic blasphemy laws — the criminalization of speech that offends or insults — who, exactly? Well, that is up to the enforcer, is it not?

On Wednesday, Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) introduced “The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014″ (S.2219), which seeks “to examine the prevalence of hate crime and hate speech on the Internet, television, and radio to better address such crimes.” Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) introduced a companion bill in the House – H.R. 3878.

Not sure of the basis for claiming that the military budget is "ever-more [sic] bloated."

At the start of the 20th century, U.S defense spending averaged about 1% of GDP. It jumped to 22% for WW I, then declined to about 1-3% until WW II, when it peaked at 41%. It spiked again at 15% during the Korean War. It steadied at about 10% during the Cold War years--including Vietnam spending--and then declined to 5.5% by the end of the Carter administration . It surged to 6.8% during the Reagan defense buildup, then declined to 3.5% by the end of the Clinton presidency.

The Obama administration projects a decline from 5.7% (the Afghanistan surge in 2011) to 4.6% of GDP by 2015.

How is this "ever-more bloated"?
