I like your reflection pic. I've taken advantage of that building accross the street myself.
Montpelier, VT is the only state capital city without a McDonalds--at least that was the case a couple of years ago when I shot this photo.

Still no McDonalds. They tried a number of years ago, but it didn't go thru. Montpelier was chosen as the capitol because it's close to the geographical center of the state. Those 'practical' Vermonters figured that everyone had equal access to it that way!

This is one of America's most elegant capitols, Jackson, MS. The best time to visit is during the Christmas holidays. We did that, and we were treated like royalty. The Sgt.-at-Arms even gave us a private tour that included the Governor's office. Later a free bus took us to the Governor's mansion, where they served refreshments.
Here's mine. I live about twenty miles from this capitol.

Never have seen this on, but it is terrific. Do you have any others from the Northeast?

Thanks loads, Henry. Wonderful collection. Several years ago, a friend and I walked the steps all the way to the top of the ND Tower, one of our more unique capitols. The Secretary of State there addressed our group, even though he did not know we were coming. Would you mind adding the city name before each of the states? You would be surprised if you knew the number of people who have not a clue as to what many of the 50 Capital cities are. Hopefully this thread will end up being educational as well as interesting.

Thanks for these nostalgic shots. Wonder how many capitol's have red roofs. This is the first I've seen.

Thank you for this add-on. The architecture is so simple compared with later capitols; it is also elegant.
