Reboot your computer and printer and try again. Something looks to be corrupt.

I print with a Canon Pro9000 MKII. I printed a batch of photos last Fri. and everything was fine. Today I tried to print and everything was not fine. I'm getting lines in my prints. I've run the cleaning cycle on the print head but it made no difference. If anybody has had this problem and knows the cure, I'd really appreciate knowing how you fixed it.

jkm, I hate to even mention this, but you could call Canon tech, I mean, that's what they're there for. Try'em in the morning! It might be a very easy fix, or not! Good luck. ;-)

You wouldn't believe how dirty a printer can get inside after a few years. Take apart what you can and use alcohol, rags, and Q-Tips to clean it.

I has an older Canon 13x19 printer for a few years. After a while it would start printing like this especially if I hadn't used it in a while.

You can remove the printhead, hold it under cool running water where the water enters from the ink intake side and flushes through the head to the printing side. Shake out the water, place it back in the printer, and run a few nozzle checks until the color patches are clean and all the water has flushed out. If this doesn't work, my guess is that the printhead needs to be replaced. I had to replace mine after 5 years, with moderate printing. These things do wear out after a while. You should be glad it is a Canon and not an Epson, which would likely have to be serviced by Epson since the head is not user replaceable.

I feel your pain. I owned several inkjet printers over the years, HP, Epson and Canon. Initially they work fine, then tings just go wrong. There are typical problems associated with each brand. For example, we used a fleet of HP B&W printers at the lab and had an unreasonable number of them eventually fail due to electronic circuit board failures. The Epsons were OK if you used them very frequently, but if you left them for more than a few days (even over along weekend), you used huge quantities of ink cleaning the heads. The Canons seemed to hold up about the same but with randomly unpredictable problems, not just one characteristic problem.

My solution was to go entirely to laser printers for B&W and send everything else out. My simple snapshots (for the wife's albums) go to Snapfish or Walgreen's or WalMart, most of which use Frontier printers. My serious printing goes to MPix. I've had it with inkjet...too many years, too much wasted ink, too many problems.

My MX 870 went totally stupid, I just reloaded the drivers and all the software updates, it took awhile but it worked like new.

When I had my 9000 mk II and replaced ink tanks I had to be very careful to insure the small inverted L shaped breathing port right above the 8 on the CL1-8 tank was completely uncovered. Often in unwrapping the tank the vertical part of the inverted L shape was left covered. You can tell that it completely uncovered when there is a small V shape below the vertical portion of the port. When this port is partially covered all of the prints didn't look good. This may not be your issue but hope it helps in some way.

I've had that happen to a couple of my Canon printers and tried everything to fix it with no success. I don't spend a lot on the printers so I just replace them. I think they just wear out and the one I have now is 18mos old and still good but I don't print as much as I did before. I had one that only lasted 8 mos but I printed a lot every week. If I had one that cost as much as yours I would look into getting it fixed but not my $100 printers.

I had a similar problem with my Epson. I did all the things you are trying with no luck. Turned out the problem was caused by using 3rd party ink cartridges instead of Epson. I was lucky, since the printer was under Best Buys warrantee they replaced the printer.

i am not familiar with that particular printer, but have worked on several different canons. from the pic it looks like the lines are horizontal on the pge as it comes out of the printer (correct?) the lines run thru all the colors so it is probably not the printhead. most likely it is a paper motion problem, or the rollers as others have suggested. i don't know if you can access the rollers easily to clean them, but if you can use a lint-free cloth and rubber rejuvenator/platen restorer (we use a product called INX -couldnt tell u where to get it - google it) dont use alcohol, it will dry out the rollers and cause more problems down the line. good luck

Make sure your printer is set for premium not standard.

Try aligning the heads, usually banding causes similar vertical lines to occur.

one of my canon print cleaning modes asks you to fold a peice of a4 in half and then open it up and feed it into the printer it then rolls the paper back and forth so that the fold line scours the roller and tray.

worth relooking at cleaning options. Often auto clean doesn't work 1st couple of times so run it again

hope this helps

I would also add to let it rest between auto cleans to help soften up the gum. Also you want to be careful not to overheat the heads. Actually thinking about it that might be the problem you did say you had just printed a lot of images.
Beer in mind anything I say about printing is based on Epson printers not Canon. so I may be talking BS.
