You did great and she is just absolutely adorable!
Just mentioning one item that pertains to kid pics (or any other pics for that matter).
This site requires you agree to allowing them to use in any way they want any pic you post. Probably use this to sell our pics to stock image sites like Shutterstock, Fotolia, Dreamstime. Not necessarily a bad thing as they need to support the site and maybe put their kids through college! Just saying as you cannot delete your pic from the site and even if you could, their conditions for use allow them to keep a copy.

Did not see yesterday's, but todays are really good. Amazed that you could get the child to hold still so long.
I am attaching yesterdays photo..I did not like it at all and thanks to all of the helpful advice received, I was able to re-shoot today and get a much better result. And thank you for your compliment..I really like the way todays came out.
What a difference, you are catching on fast, keep it up and we'll be asking you for advice. You are so lucky because you have all day, every day to practice with her. I have to go visit someone with a baby and only have a short time to shoot. Good luck.
Much better results than yesterday.
You might try clicking on the button in Lightroom for auto contrast and see what effect that has on one of these photos. It does seem that this is still under exposed by about 1 fstop.
Check the camera controls also to see that everything is set to default and it's not underexposing without you realizing it.
Is this taken with built-in flash or SP600-800 or something like that?

FYI - any image sold to a stock image company that has a model requires a model release from either the model themselves or in case of the model being a minor arelease from their legal guardian. I know I haven't personally signed a model release. ;)

I just have the built-in flash.

I'm glad you posted this..I was just going to reply to that comment. They can't sell our pictures posted that have people in them...can they??

they can pretty well do what they want. Question is - would they.
these are sweet but using a back drop/sheet is hard because of the wrinkles maybe throwing it in the dryer but i do think it is much better then the soft yellow!

I've ujsed soft blankets as backdrops also the cheap throws you can get at WalMart also work great. You can also pick up some of that furry material, you don't need a lot, that always looks nice especially with newborns.

They can not sell an image to a stock image company without a signed model release from the model or the models legal guardian. Why are you so adamant to make something out of nothing. Facebook, flickr and numerous other photograhy forums and photography contests have the same guidelines. Bottom line is without a model release they can't sell anything.
This photo is better than yesterdays :-)
I dont say much because so many havealready said what I usually would say. However for today. I would like to add my 2 cents, please :-)
I would soften the photo slightly for protraiture.Nothing wrong with an extremly sharp photo, but a soft look is more pleasing in mu opinion in portraiture.
Keep up the good work.
May God Bless :-)
I am not a professional by any means, but I love pictures of babies. The first is my favorite.

OK..So here is my attempt at a re-shoot of the pictures I took yesterday. Different color background. For those of you who gave advice yesterday..I hope these are better. Let me know what you think.
First of all, that's great looking child. And I like your color choices ... nice strong and warm colors.
Did you use a flash? or natural light? The lighting seems vignetted around her head. But regardless, I like the pictures. They are much more interesting than what I've seen of baby pictures. Thank you for NOT going all pastel!
