Of the following lenses, which would you most likely add to your collection for an APS-C sensor camera? (Keep in mind I have the 18-135 mm kit lens) I forgot to add the last one.

Canon 24-105L (EF)
Sigma 24-105

Canon 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (EF-s)
Canon 17-55 2.8 IS (EF-s)

sigma 18-35 1.8

Do you have any plans on moving to full frame? If so don't get the EF-s lenses.

Would you rather have extreme wide or medium long?

There is no easy or "correct answer".

Thanks amehta,

The 10-20 would cover the 15mm you reference. The reason I mentioned the Olympus is because it was smaller and give me options with the 4/3 technology and lighter for when I didn't want to carry something as large as my 60D with lenses.

I don't think 15mm and 18mm are significantly different (24mm vs 28mm FF equivalent).

I understand wanting something smaller, and a good bridge camera fits that very well. While it's nice to have a bit of everything, I think I prefer being "a master of some" to a "jack of all trades".

Your current choices are:
1. Canon 24-105L (EF)
2. Sigma 24-105

3. Canon 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (EF-s)
4. Canon 17-55 2.8 IS (EF-s)
5. Sigma 18-35 1.8 (DC)

Since you are looking for significantly better image quality I think #3 is off the list. The most interesting is #5, as a f/1.8 zoom, though it is a "normal zoom", which I find somewhat boring. I have not seen reviews of #2, but if it matches the reviews of #5 and the other Art-series lenses, it might have the best IQ of the set.

What focal length range of the 18-135mm do you use most, the wide (18mm), middle (25-50mm), or telephoto (70mm+)? That would help you decide between #1/2 or #4/5.

I Disagree with your point regarding #3. The 15-85 produces EXCELLENT IQ on the crop bodies.

I believe you. But does it produce significantly better IQ than the 18-135mm?

Gee, I'm all over the 18 - 135 range, just depends what I'm photographing at the time. I have been looking seriously at #2 due to the ratings on the dxomark site.

Thanks for your input, I want to make sure I'm satisfied with my decision when I make up my mind and value everyone's opinion regarding their experience!

The Sigma 24-105mm f/4 only does slightly better than the others (scores 16 on the 70D). It's the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 which really stands out (27!). Your 18-135mm is with the rest of the pack at 13. I don't think DxOMark score differences less than 4 are very significant, but 13 vs 27 is.
