LAShooter; Great story! Although it does undermine my belief in truth in advertising. Ha!

nanaval; Thank you. #2 is an odd choice and not one I'd frame or display. When cropped/zoomed the vapor trail appears un-obstructed. The branches partially blocked the view, so did the camera "render" a solid vapor trail? Thats the appeal for me on that one.
We're in a flight path and I'm challenged to get a decent shot of jets in flight. I have (poor) shots at sunset, with the jet glowing orange and vapor trails off the nose, engines and tail. Its a neat vision, but I've yet to capture it with much success. They're at considerable altitude and obviously fast moving. My longest zoom is a Sigma 70-300 (manual focus) and I haven't seen much improvement with tripod over handheld. I'm sure my equipment limits me, but also sure my technique needs work. Any suggestions are welcome!

As there are no planes near I have not had the experience of trying to get shots like this. The only thing I can think of is using auto focus and panning on the plane. On saying that I am sure there are a lot of people here who can give you a lot better advice. :D

I like the jet trails but find it's hard to make a really spectacular photo of them. I did on one occasion get a nice shot of our own contrail in flight. I had managed to get a ride in the cockpit right seat in a pocket jet from Burbank to Las Vegas. Up at cruise, I think 33,000 feet or so, I asked the pilot if we were leaving a trail. With the air traffic control dude's okay, the pilot slowed down and did a fast turn to the right and I was able to see our trail through the right side window. Very cool.

First, welcome to the Hog! Really looking forward to seeing what you post.

Love #1 and #3 ... #1 is so dramatic after the pp work and #3 is a great image with sharp focus on the dog, slightly out-of-focus wheel and a great juxtaposition of the dog's head and the wheel.

Wow!
