thanks, I"m going to purchase, the Nikon SB910 later today
and play with it over the weekend, to get familiar, with it, on my Nikon D800
I have a great deal of experience with the SB800 and the SB910. What would you like to know..(I also did Nikon support for Nikon USA.
You will love it. Take extra batteries and also LEARN TO USE IT REMOTELY. it works great off camera. I love commander mode.
I just purchased one of my own. It has greater range than the other Nikon Speedlights. I already have an SB800 which was semi-similar. The SB800 was discontinued for the SB900 which had some issues. The SB910 resolved those issues and has greater ease with the menus. I have both the sb910 and the sb800 in wescott umbrellas and get really nice portraits etc. Shooting large rooms, you can place it off camera and use the on camera strobe to either trip it without the on camera participating in the exposure or using both with true through the lens metering..
I have both sb900 and sb910.Works great.Easy to use for CLS (creative lighting system )
I do have one question, guys.does the nikon WG-AS3 rubber cover, fit on the hot shoe of the Nikon SB910 ? and fit on the D800??
I'm a professional photographer and I've used (with, first, my Nikon D200 and D300 and now with my D800) Nikon's now-discontinued SB800. I have two and they always have given me sufficient light -- and I shoot long, about 200. I researched the 910 and learned it's bigger and gives more light than the SB800. It's also much heavier. Because of weight and size, I've stayed with the SB800 and am happy. (Do NOT buy the old SB900 should you find it -- now discontinued -- as it had major flaws, which is why it was replaced with the 910.)
Llama - shot with D800, SB800, 28-300 lens at nearly 300
beautiful photo, and excellent advice, I will most certainly purchase the Nikon SB910
thanks guys, for the excellent advice, I'm going to purchase both of them today, and then experiment them with my D800

Really? You asked for information and you got none. Yet based upon this lack of information you going to make the purchase. It seems like you already made that decision so why come into these forums and even ask?

Of course he had decided he wanted to get one, it's the same G.A.S. many of us have. He basically came looking to see if anyone was going to raise some red flags. He didn't ask for "information", he asked for "experience", and he got only positive responses, both for the SB910 and the SB800 as part of the CLS. I don't see a problem with how this topic played out.

No he did not. He said, "I am considering". He did not preface, "I have decided". Based upon the meager input which includes I have it and I like it, he responds that he is making the purchase. Any one responding with experience would be information, duh?
If you google the question you will get very specific and comparative information. Isn't that better than a few people responding with I have it and like it? Only one other member asked why. And I certainly would want to hear why the 910 over others including the rave reviews that the Yongnuo speedlight has received at 1/5 of the cost of the Nikon.
I would hope members would avoid the proverbial, l I like it and have it to something more tangible.
Proverbial? What does this have to do with the Proverbs?

Look it up! = well-known, familiar, axiomatic, famed. It has nothing to do with proverbs.
