Explain this to me. As I see it "I could care less" means that I care less and "I could not care less" means I don't care less, I care more. No?
I couldn't care less means I couldn't care any less than I do. I could care less means I care more than I have to.

I have often wondered about how "I couldn't care less" got corrupted into "I could care less." I first encountered that phrasing in 1963, where the drill sergeants used it. Frequently.
My guess would be an attempt to be sarcastic.

Every thing that happens is a "game changer". Now, I don't know what game we are playing in.
What a great post! I have my pet peeves too - as I was typing, I overheard a story on tv and the girl used 'at the end of the day' - had to laugh at the timing!!
I am adding that I do not understand AT ALL - and I wont give credit to any of them - but how the new fad (not new anymore) is to combine peoples name for a new nickname ..... here I add REALLY!!!!! :)
An easy fix for what troubles you: don't watch Fox (so called) news.
One other thing, you should NEVER use the word "intelligent" in the same sentence as Fox News.

On a slightly different tack what about the misuse of the word 'Hero'. It really annoys me when the term hero is applied to actors, sportsmen and someone who has just done something of no real use to man nor beast for charity. I am not belittling their achievements but they are not Heroes. That term should be reserved for those that have done something whereby they put themselves in danger on behalf of others, not because they have engaged in something that just furthered their career. Whilst I am having a rant....females who act are actresses and female heroes are called heroines. This endeth todays lesson!

Strange thought coming from someone who obviously has/does watch Fox News. I find the truth that comes from Fox News to be refreshing compared to the, thrill that runs up a newscaster's leg at the mere mention of Obama. Apparently not everyone feels the same as you sir or Fox News would not be the #1 rated news station on the air. Possibly in your ignorance you are not aware that channels can be changed and you are not required to watch any certain channel.
On another note why would you choose this thread to air your dislike of a news station when it has nothing to do with a news station per se?
Have a nice day,
Dennis

Totally dude!
A great come back when someone says "You have a good one" (meaning have a good day) is to say "Thank you for noticing."

One phrase I dislike is 'my bad' which is being used more often both on UHH and American TV. 'My Bad' what? The English language has various alternatives for saying 'sorry my mistake' why use a stupid nonsensical phrase like 'my bad'? I also think that people who are unable to string a sentence together with out using 'Ya know' and 'like' every other word should be taken out and thrashed to within an inch of their lives for crimes against the English language.

Many people's speech is messed up with garbage phrases and words as well as misuses such as "I could care less." Toastmasters International has simple ways of curing people of such bad habits. However, most people continue to speak in a slovenly manner because they don't care, are unaware, or no one in authority cares to make them speak correctly.
The Toastmasters method is to station a member at the back of the room with a cowbell. When the speaker uses garbage words or phrases such as "you know," or "ugh," the member rings the cowbell. The speaker, previously unaware of how he is larding his speech with garbage, rapidly becomes aware.
In other contexts such as aviation communication, slovenly speech not only wastes time but can lead to tragedy. The worst plane-to-plane disaster in aviation history stemmed partly from poor comms. In personal experience I am sometimes privileged to be taken for small airplane rides by a pilot friend. His comms are awful beyond words. Whenever he flies he confuses and/or irritates controllers. Sometimes every controller he speaks with! My friend is clueless about his incompetence and blames the issues on the controllers being cranky. I have seen competent instructors try to give him tips, but no dice: he thinks he knows everything.
And you fly with him?

Sure. I keep a sharp lookout for other airplanes and a sharp ear open for any comms that might mean trouble for us.
