Try removing the battery for about an hour...then replace the battery.

Read your manual, one step at a time. Look for instruction to
rreset to factory default. After all, it's brand new so
don"t panic....unless of course you baked it or threw it in
a dishwasher????

Go into your menu under PICTURE STYLE. You will find portrait, landscape, neutral, faithful and Monochrome.....take it off Monochrome and put it where you want to shoot.....

I have a very sick feeling way down inside that something has happened to my new D60! When I took Christmas pics it was fine and then I just tried shooting my Granddaughter in her nice new formal dance dress and got only black shots. The led is showing no info I am familiar with. I am new to this camera and paid pretty good for it new. I can't find the topic in the book that it came with so does anyone have any ideas?

This is confusing.....are your pictures showing only a b&w image or are you talking about each view is only a black screen?

Take the lense off to see if the mirror is working. If the mirror is working is light coming through with the lense off? Usually an error message will appear if the card isn't reading correctly. If the mirror doesn't work that is why you get no light to sensor! If the camera is still under warranty call Canon and they will fix it or replace it!

Stupid question perhaps, but did you use mirror lockup recently and forget to put it down? Maybe your shutter is broken?

Mirror lockup goes off when you turn the camera off and has a default time limit of a few minutes.

That happened to my Canon Rebel XTI and it was the LED screen broken but the camera was still under warranty so I got it fixed.

Under "picture style", you may have it set to monochrome. Otherwise, call 800-652-2666 which is Canons technical service center. They are great and I'm sure can help you. My best, Jerry

Remember the f/stops here!

Have you found what your problem was?

yes, it was a sensor more than likely as canon wanted to get it back to fix it under warranty. Thanks for asking!
