I have a very sick feeling way down inside that something has happened to my new D60! When I took Christmas pics it was fine and then I just tried shooting my Granddaughter in her nice new formal dance dress and got only black shots. The led is showing no info I am familiar with. I am new to this camera and paid pretty good for it new. I can't find the topic in the book that it came with so does anyone have any ideas?

Stupid question perhaps, but did you use mirror lockup recently and forget to put it down? Maybe your shutter is broken?

On my Nikon I have a 2 button reset. It puts everything back to factory settings.

I don't know how to use "mirror lock-up+ so I doubt that would be there problem. I changed cards just to see if it might be that. It wouldn't do different in the movie or close-up mode. I took the lens off and everything looked like it had before. Is there a way to check the mirror?

On my Nikon D300s, on the left side it is the Qual button and on the right side it is the +/- button. You push both aat the same time and hold them.

When you take a picture you should hear the mirror and shutter working.

when you take a picture you are getting a solid black image?

If so it's really, really underexposed or you left the lens cap on. I'm going to assume the lens cap is not the issue. ;)

Are you shooting in a pre-program mode? Which one?

To do a factory reset on the 60D (found via google for you)...

turn camera to Manual Mode.
Press the Menu button on the right side of the screen.
You will then need to scroll over to the third subsection of the third set of menu options.
Use the quick control dial to scroll down to the Clear all Camera Settings option.
Click the Set button.
Scroll over to the OK button and click Set again.
The camera will display that it is busy restoring the settings.
Once it has finished it will return to the options menu

It sounds like it did at Christmas. The shutter button must be ok 'cause the led will advance as exposures increase. Ugh...I hate stuff like this...It flares bad indigestion!!

try a factory reset and see if that clears it up, if not call the Canon help line (1-800-OK-CANON)

Where did you purchase the camera from?
Do you have a local camera store, if you do I'd take a trip there with camera in hand, they might be able to help ya out.
