Fabulous fotos! Zoos in winter smell better than they do in summer also. Don

February was member appreciation month at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. I made a few visits on very cold days and had some of the exhibits and animals to myself. Here's a few of the lions in the snow.

Great shots.... Guess I have to head to Lincoln Park sometime soon....

I love the big cats. Very nice pictures! I go to the Toledo Zoo when it is very cold too. No crowds to fight with!

Thanks Gerald Harlow, Dixiegirl, Sylvias, Texcaster, Don-RC and jeanbug35 Glad you enjoyed!

Camshy, I STOP TO SHOOT - agreed on the cold. Trips to the zoo in this brutal winter season were a challenge for both man and beast... :-)

larryzplace Remember too the Lincoln Park Zoo is always free although parking can be a bit pricey. I was out to the Brookfield Zoo for the first time this past fall. Very impressive in size, layout and the approach to the limited use of fences to separate the people from the animals.

I do understand parking... I generally take the blueline or metra when i go into the city.... Also Brookfield Zoo is a pretty open place too.... have taken many pictures there and plan to spend some time there this summer

Thanks Sue. Sahar replaced an older male who was put to sleep a few years ago. Myra and he were always very affectionate and I've been watching to see how this new pairing works out.

Very appealing shots, the lions at the Cleveland zoo don't seem to mind the snow either, a male and 2 females.
