I like it for it's intended purpose- mainly wildlife, not BIF, although it tracks pretty well in AI Servo on my Canon 6D as long as I'm not using the 1.4X Kenko teleconverter I have. It is sharp and has good IQ. I sold a Canon 400mm 5.6 after I tested the Tamron. I was very fond of that lens and it has a good reputation. I wouldn't have sold that lens if I didn't like the Tamron.

I actually found one (Canon mount) in a local camera shop that was a Ritz Camera before the current owner bought it. I had been on a waiting list for a long while before I found this shop. So, I guess what I am saying is don't quit trying the local shops because they get them in from time to time, especially the ones that have a history of selling a lot of Tamaron equipment. Oh, by the way it is well worth the effort!

Canon 60D. ISO 125, 1/800, f6.3 @ 600mm subject distance was 101 meters. I did crop from the original 11x17 to 6x9. I didn't start taking wildlife photos until the middle of December so I have a lot to learn about it but I am getting used to this lens and like it.

Adorama and B&H Photo have them in stock. $1069.99. Shipping is free(standard) unless you want to pay for next day or express. No sales tax(savings in itself) except for N.J. Unless you have a very steady hand, use a tripod.

Sorry about that. I thought I saw it in stock. Must be that my 80 year old eyes are playing tricks on me. Anyway those are very reputable camera stores and I buy from them.

Sorry to disagree but B&H has a mile long waiting list. I Don't know about Adorama...but my guess it's at least a half of mile.
