We had a lovely but long drive from Auckland to New Plymouth. There were lots of photo ops along the way, but no one was willing to stop for me. I found quite a few once we got to New Plymouth, including some that are rather amusing. Hope you enjoy these.

The bikes could be anywhere. I just liked the way they were arranged and the way the light was hitting them.

I've never seen anything like the second shot. It needs no explanation.

Great shots Vicki, enjoyed them all, gotta love the last one, with the stone art
In the photo titled "Looking Downstream" a man and his son had just finished several hours worth of rock stacking. When the tide comes back in, it will flood this stream and ruin his efforts. He didn't seem to care.

Someone pointed out that I should have gotten a shot from the level of the water. That would have been an interesting shot to be sure, but I didn't have the time and inclination to climb down the bank and my walking companions (specifically a hungry husband) didn't want to wait. :-)

Thanks for looking Greg. I'm glad you liked that one.

I was shooting from a footbridge that was quite a bit higher than the stream. The tide wouldn't have gotten us, but it would have wrecked the balanced rocks. :-)

Thanks for looking and commenting. I always appreciate it.

I should have made my self a bit clearer, I meant good job you got the picture before the tide washed the rocks away.

LOL I was picturing myself washing out to sea with the tide. I'd be holding the camera high to keep it dry! :-D

Nice series. What a view some people have living in sight of the volcano.

I'm ready to go back. I think I could be happy living there, but they don't want people moving in unless they can contribute.

Maybe we'll make it to Australia. It's on the list.

Thanks for looking and commenting Earl. I always appreciate hearing from you.

When you come back to NZ Vick make sure you come to the "real" NZ - the South Island!

Happy days

Rick

Thanks Mark. I'm glad you enjoyed these. Getting photographs was the whole point to the trip, so I felt compelled to share a few at the very least. :-)

The volcano was hidden in the clouds when we first got there. I'm glad it peeked out for a short time. Thanks for looking and commenting.
