We had a lovely but long drive from Auckland to New Plymouth. There were lots of photo ops along the way, but no one was willing to stop for me. I found quite a few once we got to New Plymouth, including some that are rather amusing. Hope you enjoy these.

The bikes could be anywhere. I just liked the way they were arranged and the way the light was hitting them.

I've never seen anything like the second shot. It needs no explanation.

In the photo titled "Looking Downstream" a man and his son had just finished several hours worth of rock stacking. When the tide comes back in, it will flood this stream and ruin his efforts. He didn't seem to care.

Some fine shots Vicki, the low tide is a stunning masterpiece when viewed on down load. You didn't mention what equipment you used, just curious. I hope you print that one.

Well done Vicksart, real nice shots in this group! I've been to NZ a few times and always am impressed with the people and the beauty of the land, both islands....I'm lucky enough to work in the seafood industry, and New Zealand is a world leader in fisheries management and innovation....and they deliver beer to pubs in TANKER TRUCKS!!!!!
What's not to like?

I hope you make it downunder. We had the best time in San Francisco in Sept 2012, walked the whole city just about, absolutely loved it. We walked the Golden Gate bridge, (clear day), went to Alcatraz, Ocean Beach, stayed in a little hotel called the Baldwin just near the Chinatown Gate. Even saw about 30 naked men milling about on a main street corner in the Castro. I didn't have my camera that day, probably a good thing. We are hoping for another USA trip maybe next year. Jude.

I hope I get downunder, too.

It sounds like you really saw S.F. I've lived in this area (about 1/2 hour north of S.F) for over 50 years and haven't done many of the things you mentioned like walking across the bridge. That's not high on my list. I guess you haven't experienced S.F. if you haven't been to the Castro area, but you wouldn't have missed much if you hadn't gone there (except for the naked men).:-)

Haven't heard of the Baldwin Hotel. There are so many hotels and places to eat with really good food, it's hard to keep track.

I hope you have a chance to come back.

Nice series! I can't help but think of what you might get by wading in the water for a low shot of the stacked rocks. Guess you will have to go back to try it.

Thanks for looking. Yes, maybe I need to go back to get that shot. You pay, and I'll go. :-)

I'd like to see #4 at high tide. There was a family looking through the tide pools that added some color to one of my unposted shots. I had limited time and didn't get down to the rocks. The three men I was with were anxious about having lunch. :-)

Thanks so much Phil. I think I used the Canon 60D with the 18-200 kit lens for that shot (and most of my landscapes) on this trip. I printed it as a 4x6 to fit in the album.

Great shots Vicki and it is nice to see parts of home. Hope you made it down to the South Island? It is even more scenic there but then I am originally from Christchurch and think the South Island has lots more too offer........ Do hope you make it down under again.

I never got to the South Island, and 10 days was not enough for the North Island. Next time.

Very good set Vicki, I like the last one, good thing you were there before the tide came in.

I was shooting from a footbridge that was quite a bit higher than the stream. The tide wouldn't have gotten us, but it would have wrecked the balanced rocks. :-)

Thanks for looking and commenting. I always appreciate it.
