I've upgraded every PSP since it was shareware. Each version added more tools while retaining the user friendly interface, and Corel x6 in no different. X6 added a 64 bit version, though, that makes PSP more efficient with larger files and memory intensive editing, but, obviously only if your system is 64 bit. That in itself was enough to make me upgrade my computer to 64 bit, and I've been well pleased with the results.

I've used it since way back when Jasc owned it. I upgrade to every new version. I think it's a great program and a bargain at the price.

There is a post today asking people for feedback on Corel Paintshop Pro X6. This is a related question, and I decided to start a new thread rather than hijack the other one.

Isi there anyone here who made the transition from the older pre-Corel PSP to the more recent Corel versions?

I am using the old PSP 7, and reluctant to change since "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." For those who made the transition, what did you find to be the advantages to upgrading, and what challenges were there?

Thanks,
Mike

Realizing I'm jumping in a little late on this thread, I, too, have used PSP nearly from the beginning with JASC. I've been a faithful every-other version upgrader for years. Each time I've seen steady improvements and innovations. I now use X6 Ultimate, and am very happy with it.

In fact, I was a beta-tester for X6, so actually received this version free. As another poster said, PSP does (and always has) more than what I need for PP. For me, the big improvement has been in the area of support. I think Corel has done a much better job of documenting features than JASC did. Their manual is available online directly or as a download. Plus they have a good number of videos available, a nice user forum and also a decent e-newsletter that covers a lot of tips.

Overall, I am very pleased with how things have evolved under Corel, and I was definitely a skeptic when Corel first bought the product. In fact, when I bought an HD video camera, I immediately went to Corel's Video Studio Pro product, and am now a loyal user of that.

What's really nice is that PSP and VSP "play nice" with each other, which allows me to do some custom things in VSP with images developed in PSP. Happy-happy, joy-joy!
