Looks like the replacement will be 16-300mm.

The Tamron 18-270mm VC lens was my first lens purchase for my Canon EOS 50D. It took the place of a bag full of kit lenses, and lightened my load for a cruise in the Med. I was and still am comfortable with its images. I did have a time, less than a year of ownership, the lens started to go "soft". I sent it back to Tamron Service, in New York. It was returned in only 10 days, with a description of what was done. It was completely cleaned of manufacturing debris, one element replaced, and reprogrammed to Canon 50D, and 7D specs. I checked the lens out, the softness problem is gone, it seems to focus faster, and more accurately, and the image quality is almost as good as my Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM lens. Although I have better glass in this range now, I still use the Tamron 18-270 while on vacation, and hikes. I've got both a 1.6, and 2X teleconverter, I never use them with this lens. The 18-270 needs a good bit of light, and the loss of the "f" stops with the converters is just to much while in the shade under a canopy of trees. On the open beach, I do use a CP filter, and sometimes a ND filter. The lens has a 6 year warranty from Tamron, for the original purchaser. This is much better than Canon. So, if you expect a large amount of use in this zoom range, and possible misuse, this is the lens for you. It will creep open on you if you hang it to the side on a sling, but there is a lens lock to keep it at the 18mm position. Just be sure to release the lock before you try to zoom the lens. the 18-270mm VC is a really good lens, at a wonderful price. Keep in mind though, Tamron is working on a replacement in that range. Considering the they have been coming out with much better glass, you may want to wait for the new version, or check on when it may be coming out.
