Love the photos! I've never seen that bird before.

I managed to sneak out of the house fairly early this morning. This particular marsh is about a 3 minute drive from the house - we can see it from our back windows.
There isn't as easy way to get shots of the water birds in the morning without having them back lit, but it continues to be an absorbing challenge and can make them look rather dramatic.
See what you think and feel free to offer suggestions. I'm continuing to learn from everyone and appreciate all of the help I can get.

Very nice set Vicki! I wish I had the wherewithal to get out of bed early enough to do this kind of photography. Keep 'em coming!
All are very nice. #4 is my favorite. Thx, Clipper
Very nice picture of the fence. The avocets are spectacular; I particularly like Picture #3

Glad you liked these. For some reason, these birds are easy to miss. They blend in somewhat, and the larger birds command more attention.

Thanks so much. I thought #4 was an interesting arrangement of the two birds' poses - almost mirror images.

Thanks so much for the nice compliment and thumbs up. If you liked the Avocets you might like the ones I just posted from the Avocet series in the Birds in Flight/On Water section.

Great set, I like the reflections in the water.
Nice set Vicki, back lighting does make interesting images...I really like the vertical shot of the two Avocets with the reflection on the water, sweet shot..print it...
