Last summer my 15 year old granddaughter asked me what my favorite photograph is and I showed her Steve McCurry’s “Afghan Girl” which was on the cover of the 125th National Geography anniversary issue. Unknowingly to me she took the magazine home and as a surprise she painted the image for me as a birthday present. Maybe I am biased but for a 15 year old I think she did a great job, what do you think? Btw. She put it on her face book and got over 400 hits the first day. I am proud of her.

Your granddaughter has tremendous talent, I did the download and the eyes and facial features are amazing. You are proud of her anyway but this is even more reason to be proud. What a special thing for her to do for her Grandpa! Thank you for sharing.

Please continue to post her work.
Young Lady you have a talent most only dream of please allow us to view your work when you can - but most of all please continue to grow, in your work. Use your grandfather's photo knowledge, he is just busting with pride to share it with you and Yell off the mountain top how proud he is, As I would be.

Thank you so very much for your kind comment, I know she will greatly appreciate it. As any teenagager she likes to paint her idols, even I don't know them they look great too me but I am not sure the UHH, which is mostly seniors, would like them?

Had to post….Your granddaughter has insight way far beyond her years. I take it she hasn't had any real formal art training. If that is the case, you and her parents need to gently immerse her in painting and other forms of art. Nurture her, for she is an extraordinary talent.
Rich

Thank you very much Rich. No she had not one minute of training it's just natural to her, for a teenager her age she is very level headed and I think she will be doing OK. Last fall we were in SF and we visited an art gallery, so Karina started commenting about certain pictures, the owner was curious about the little girls knowledge so she got out her Ipod and showed him some of her work, he was floored. He said anytime she wants to display some of the pictures in his gallery she is welcome. But for us it is more important that she concentrates on her general education it's only here first year in high school.

Your granddaughter's painting is so awesome. The way she was able to get the expression and reflections in the eyes shows how talented and passionate she is about her hobby. Thanks for sharing with us and I hope she continues painting.
