I just switched to Mac Pro Book (Laptop)about a year ago. I really like it. I followed by buying a 27" monitor. Now I am thinking to buy a 27" desktop. Much better colors or Graphic then on any of my previous systems (except for the macprobook). But If I would do it again I would buy a desk top with the big monitor and then the laptop to dock it. Just my opinion. Have a super day

All of my friends that are semi-pro and pro say that mac was made for pictures. They all use macs.

I am on my second MAC desktop. Have heard all the above re: MAC is choice for graphic design, images etc. I use Aperture and am planning to get some additional plugins-software. Whenever I have needed support of any kind have received quickly and accurately. There was a learning curve for me when I switched to MAC but found the classes, tutorials and the book: "The Missing Manual: Switching to the MAC" extremely helpful.

I have been a PC guy for too many years; but recently become what I choose to call "a fence rider". Our son has always been a Mac user and he is in the media business. His call was "it's easy", just go ahead and switch. Now I am using both. I love the Mac but still cling to the PC to process photos with elements and Cs, all the while I am trying to learn the Mac advantage. I don't see anyone's comments concerning support, so I will say that Mac is by far more superior in that sense. The Mac stores all have genius bars that can usually give you personal help on a timely and face to face
basis. They combine that with a program called One to One that costs $100 a year and allows you to have leaning sessions on any user needs and as many as you can handle.

It has been the opinion of professionals that MACs are the way to go. They have a far superior graphics system than PCs. The only thing keeping me tied to PCs is the expense to transition to MAC.

I found that in the long run it cost me more to operate a PC. A Mac will pay for itself over time. I just convinced my Sister to buy a Mac after many years of PC Issues. $$$$ When you add it all up a Mac is a better buy.

interesting information from all. We have 2 iMac's , one for me and the other is my wife's . after many years of getting computers from Dell, Gateway, HP and other companys my grandson talked me into getting an iMac after another "bug" ate my hard drive . The iMac was confusing at first as I didn't have to do anything on it except run the programs . It had no crap on it, so it was a totally different learning curve but one so worth it. Now I use elements 8,Aperture 3 and so on. LOVE IT ! oh my wife has windows 7 on hers thru Bootcamp and is thrilled with its simplicity .
yes, costly but haven't spent a dime on repairs sense we've gotten these iMac's so thats a huge PLUS !

I have always had Macs. My last one was a Mac Book Pro - a wonderful computer. I ran over it with my van in the garage and the geeks at Best Buy popped out the innards and put it into a new Mac Book and saved all my stuff! I now carry around a laptop in a cheaper looking white case, but it's still a great Mac Book Pro! I also have a Mac desktop and love it too.

We only use Macs here and always have. Used to have a PC at work and it was a killer. Anytime you ever see anyone doing any thing really important they are using a MAC. Nuff said. :) :XD:

Any how many computers do you have at your place? I'll bet not many. When you have thousands of machines that can't be managed then you will have a disaster.

Most graphic designers I have either hired or worked with use MACs because that was the system that was used by their schoole. The Art Institutes and other schools all use MACs and that is the primary reason why MACs are popular with the artist crowd even though MAC's processors were slower before they switched to Intels. MACs were not without issues, the primary one being hard drive failures. I haven't worked with one for a few years so I couldn't tell you if they had addressed that issue. As a business owner I had more hardware issues with the MACs in the graphics department than any PCs in the rest of the company.

Apple is very good at marketing and design but you get a lot of PC for $1000 and not much MAC. With the money you save you could expand your software library and add a lens to your collection.

I own an iMac and love it. Shutterbug says the best machine for photographers is the Mac mini with the LaCie 324i LCD display. Also use either X-rite display or color eyes display to adjust the monitor.
That is what I will do when my iMac dies.

The PC was originally designed by IBM for business use and has since been adapted for other uses. The Mac is designed for creative flair. I think you will find that most (though not all) who have a negative opinion of Mac have never owned one.
