Oh my! That is terrible! Yes, you were very lucky....I have been through a fire and not a fun thing! Hope you get straightened out quickly and can relax again. Such a worry!

Now...forgive me...but did you get a picture of the smoke! ...sorry, it was just there. ....probably the last time you will send me a compliment! ;-)

Challenge-Smoke.....
I got these from just blowing out a candle! Backed with black poster board and west window for the highlight of the smoke.
PP'd a bit for different colors. Had to work fast as it only lasted a couple of seconds!

Dutchbug, so very glad you are OK and that your son was able to call you right away that is a very scary thing to happen

Thank You Catgirl! It was very scary and found it has been hard to leave the house totally alone but I am getting better at it as time goes by.

I was hoping you wouldn't mind the sense of humor. I didn't have time when we had the fire either! We just got the kids (7 mo. and 2 1/2 yrs. into the car and started backing out of the drive and a propane tank exploded ....close as I ever want to get to that type of situation EVER again! I sure hope things get back to normal for you soon. Nothing worse than not being comfortable in your own home. Have a great day... and this picture is just for you...Took it a couple of days ago... It is a Prickly Poppy and they are filling the fields around here to remind us that spring is coming!

This time of year there is an increase in the # of house fires in Maine - 2 yesterday. Many burn wood and by now the creosote residue builds and you can throw in a log or two to stoke the fire for a while only to have it cath the creosote on fire and set off a chimney fire. Many homes are very old and some chimneys are not even lined thus, the fire spreads very quickly through the walls. It is very scary and the outcome is usually one lost house with everything in it and sometimes folks don't get out in time...This winter has been especially harsh and dry wood stores have been burned and folks have gone to wood that hasn't been seasoned. Green wood builds creosote more quickly. The fire departments are mostly volunteer and sometimes can't get to structures fast enough. We had 2 bad chimney fires years ago and we no longer burn wood - I am afraid of it. Just a little "smoke" story.

Wow Pat, I am so sorry for those families and for your fires! The electric company caused mine so it was out of our control...I have always felt sad & sorry when I hear of fires people have but never really realized the fears of the aftermath that comes with it! I will never forget it!

Nothing I know of makes lovelier lines than a trickle of smoke.
