Thank you LeeAnn! I use Basswood all the time. I would have liked to have some for sure.:) I am always stopping and asking folks I see cutting down trees if I could have a few pieces.:)

Erv, What a stunning rose! It is a museum art piece! Very few have your talent. The high wind last fall knocked down a huge basswood in my friends yard. Wondered who could use all of that wonderful carving wood. Not sure what he did with the tree. Do you ever use basswood?

Thank you Jean!! This was my hardest piece to get done. About 80 hours of work. Sandy did a great job on painting it too. And that really made it nice.

I just might try that on my next one. I am just about done with another duck decoy. If I ever get back to it.:) Doing it for a really good friend. He did me a big favor a few months ago and would not take anything for doing it.

This is my best carving I have every done in my eyes. I did this one for Janny and gave it to her on our 30th wedding anniversary. You were lucky to see this one. She lets no one touch it.:):) Not even me. She put it down, I shot it and it was gone.:) This piece is out of Teak wood. And it took me 4 try's and about 80 hours to get one I liked.
Erv
For got to add, this is one piece of wood.

That is amazing, Erv, and in teak! Thanks for pointing it out to me. The rose I did is composed of several pieces in aromatic cedar. Smelled great while I was working on it. I should mention it belongs to my wife, but she lets me handle it.

This was a tuff one to do. I should take a better picture of it. The petals are very thin. I got a glass cover for it to stay in. And I never get to handle it.:):):)
