This is my best carving I have every done in my eyes. I did this one for Janny and gave it to her on our 30th wedding anniversary. You were lucky to see this one. She lets no one touch it.:):) Not even me. She put it down, I shot it and it was gone.:) This piece is out of Teak wood. And it took me 4 try's and about 80 hours to get one I liked.
Erv
For got to add, this is one piece of wood.

Thanks Pip! It is under glass all the time. I had it made just for it. Keeps it clean and safe.:) Even safer when Janny is around.

I didn't read all the post; just jumped to page 15. Is there anything that you can not do? Your wife must be so proud as you should be. My husband carved a wedding ring for me out of a quarter and it was such a precious gift. I suppose he used a drill, oh well you get the point. Those gifts are the best.

Thank you GJ.:) There are few things I haven't tried yet.:) That is funny about the ring. I made Janny one out of a dime. She wore it for a long time. But now she can't find it. That is a fun thing to do tho. And I used a drill too then pounded it flat. Then you just keep shaping it till it fits. Then I put it in a rock polisher to smooth it. Fun times for sure. Thank you for telling me about your ring. I had forgot about doing that.:)

Good Grief---Your carvings have more detail than my photos. I am impressed. Such artistic talent is a special gift.

Come on down any time. I'll be more than happy to provide lessons. I'll even provide a camera for you to work with.
Lots of grand birding locations around here.

Erv, What a stunning rose! It is a museum art piece! Very few have your talent. The high wind last fall knocked down a huge basswood in my friends yard. Wondered who could use all of that wonderful carving wood. Not sure what he did with the tree. Do you ever use basswood?
