Long, long time Mac user. I can't understand why anyone would buy a Windows machine. (I do run Windows on my Mac Pro for some games)
However, if you already have a Windows machine with software that works I can't see switching to the Mac -- unless you just want to switch to a Mac.
The wife MacBook has the glossy screen -- I see no problems with it for photo editing/showing.

I clicked the "quote reply" button which quotes your text and allows me to reply.
Courtesy says to trim the quote to the portion you're replying too -- helps keep the clutter down.

Thank you very much.
You will find I-movie to be very good at editing. You can also get final cut later if you like.

Well I am not sure if I am replying properly. I am new in this forum but I want to thank to all of you for your kindness providing opinions for my quest. I do pictures (wedding, quinceaneras etc..) and starting with videos. When working on videos, I am not sure where to trim because the voice is one place and image is another. there is no sync between both of them. Is it a pc deffect or just program deffect?

Just to clarify, iMovie comes with a Mac, no charge. It's a low-end video editor. If you're doing professional-level work, it may not fit your needs. Final Cut Pro is the high-end software.
Sorry, can't help with your sound/video sync problem. It could be the software you're using, but perhaps it's the camera. I'll shut up and defer to the experts now.
I am not aware of any graphics, design, or professional folks involved in photography who don't use Macs. Our company folks as well as Fed Ex folks all run Macs for design and photography work.
Even the print folks like Gannett papers who are PC shops usually run Macs for design and photo work. Bias aside, the pros I have see in a work setting use Macs hands down and for good reason.

I was told that MAC is way better than PC in matters of media (pictures and video). Since the transition will be a little expensive, I am requesting your opinion before making any move.
Thank you in advance
Casadeate,
I switched maybe 4 years ago and I am glad I did. Now I do not worry about being hacked or getting viruses. The transition will be very expensive especially the programs, the saving in time is worth it. That is my opinion.

Not true, just different systems. One is costly and the other is cheap(er). Lots of disagreement and agreement and likely strong arguments.
One is not better and the other is just different.
Robert,
Sorry but I don't agree, I have spent time on both since I have both and find that I accomplish things especially in photographic issues much faster on the IMAC 24 which is what I use.

Casadearte,
Go with a Mac, I am a professional fashion photographer, I take thousands of photos each day at fashion week, I don't have the time to waste, Macs do a much better and do it faster.

A lot of Mac snobbery here. I run a PC, used to run a Mac. I get NO viruses and don't use those useless, high priced "anti virus" products. I will match my PC against your Mac for processing speed and video options. I find many more programs and plug ins that will run on my PC, and the cost of my system was about half that of a Mac. However, I will break from the norm here and say Mac makes a great machine, but my PC is also a great machine. Neither is better than the "other". Buy the one you want.....
I have to agree both are excellent. I run Win 7/64 and Lion/64. The only difference is in my hardware. I use MacBook Air 11" for it's superior tiny size and build, but I also use a far bigger and higher grade PC laptop for speed. It's apples and oranges. Mac is not the best, nor is PC. Buy what you can afford and prefer. Any new computer is an amazing machine. When I leave the house, my tiny MacBook Air 11 is always with me. At home my HP laptop powerhouse is always on. The difference is ram, processor and drives.
I recommend always buying the most powerful computer you can afford as soon as the new one comes out, because it will last longer.
I am annoyed that Mac does not offer the flexibility of a PC and the vast software list.
Of course my iPod touch has so many great apps, there is no comparable Android. I am also waiting for the iPad 3 to arrive. I think it will be ready for my Prime Time. LOL Try the the iPod light meter app.
BTW, never had a "virus" I do not click on stupid things.

I am on my second MAC. Never had a problem. I would never go back to PC.
If you are near a store, you can take classes.
Once you go MAC you never go back.
If you want to save 10-30% on the cost of a Mac, and still enjoy all the benefits of guarantee etc., go to the Apple website and search under refurbished products. Depending on what model, and with what equipment you want, you will be able to save a decent amount of money. I have done this more than once and have never been disappointed.
