Hi! And now...a little about me. I'm a 72 year old retired controls engineer and technical trainer. When I retired 9 years ago, I got a Canon S3IS which I've put to good use. However, when my wife told me we're going to Alaska for our 50th anniversary next year, I began to think I should upgrade my camera. So lately been doing a lot of research, esp. on mirrorless cameras. Then last week, a friend recommended the Canon SX50 which looks interesting. So I'll be looking throughout this forum for your comments, suggestions, etc.

Decide the largest size you may want to enlarge your images to, then buy a camera with a sensor that will deliver the resolution you need. the SX50 is great for snapshots, but limited for making wall size enlargements. Some prefer a camera with a viewfinder, as seeing a screen in bright light can be difficult to compose on. You might want to visit ProPhoto on Plymouth Rd in Livonia for a selection of camera to select from.

Thanks. I'll have to check ProPhoto out as they appear to be the only camera store on the west side. The Lumix FZ200 also looks appealing.

I thought this was a repair facility only. Do they sell cameras?

The camera store is just around the corner- I think it is Feldman Camera? It has been a few years since I've been there so Google then first.
