It was the day I "shot" the President!! Got your attention? Was in July 1987, when President Reagan visited Danville, Indiana. I am not a pro but I was asked by the County Commissioners to be their official photographer. How could I refuse? No way. I was cleared by Secret Service and issued a small insignificant lapel button that was my freedom to go wherever. The President met for a short period of time with the Commissioners, myself and the White House Photographer being the only "shooters" in the room. The President and Indiana Gov. Orr were then shuffled to a room prior to his public speech in the courthouse rotunda. I was alone in the room with the President and Governor. Wow!! I then made my way to a 3rd floor balcony to try to capture scenes during the rotunda speech.
A whirlwind day. I shot color negative film, but have never had the images converted to digital. My only regret was not handing one of my cameras to the White House Photog. for a record shot of my participation.

I still have a mint condition 1984 Reagan-Bush button. I was a supporter of Reagan and later Bush and believe, no I know, those were the good old days. The button is in better condition than the picture I just shot. Who needs the picture when you have the button?

I tried to upload a picture of the button but it does not upload. Anyone know why?

Jack,
Could be the resolution is too high, recheck and make sure it is within the UHH guidelines.

My most Gratifying experience was when a LT. on the fd. retired last year after almost 30 years and I was on hand to photography the whole going away send off as he only had to work 5 hours on his last day. Towards the end, his family's camera battery died so I was asked by his family to get the ending family photos even. To me, this is an honor to do an event like this.

That has to be a special experience. I "saw" JFK when he was campaigning in NYC and spoke in a park near NYU. I put the "saw" in quotes because he was so far away, he looked to be maybe one or two inches tall. I "saw" the Pope when Pope Paul VI visited St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. About the same height. I was on the 35th floor of the RCA Building, and you could monitor his process by the crowd movement. It was like watching a gigantic wave.

Sorry, no pictures. Just memories.

Why didn't I have my camera? I did shake hands with President Lyndon Johnson when he visited the hospital at Ft. Hood, but the only celebrity picture I got was in Korea in 1954.

I didn't do a very good job with coloring her dress, and she didn't need that to stand out. When I was working in Photoshop, students came in, and clear across the room would breathe, "Marilyn".

If you have the original, you may want to create your own topic in here with this photo and ask for PP help. There are a lot of graphic artists in here that can do wonders with photos like this. Two specifically that are very good with selective coloring. I'll have to look for their posts to remember who they are.

My highschool band was in JKF's inaugural parade. We had practiced several pieces but it was so cold we played Tiger Rag over and over as it was the easiest. Bless his heart, JFK stayed for the whole thing.
