That is an old argument. Make the other person wrong, that makes you right. You know, Did to, Did not, Did to, Did not. The best way to end this type is to just acknowledge the other person without making them right or wrong. The five acknowledgements are Good, Fine, Alright, OK and Thank you.

Or, "we will just have to agree to disagree"

Often replies on Chit-Chat contain no cogent argument to the discussion.

Often they contain nothing more that an expression of anger. Insults, name calling, slurs and slander. For those who disagree, go back and look at some contentious threads where one puts forth an argument and the other repeatedly responds with nothing but anger.

Psychologists agree on this point: The source of anger is almost always fear!

I will not respond to replies. Discuss among yourselves.

"Often", if not "almost always". However you me prompt to ask what fear it is that causes you to withdraw from your own posted postulation? Shame shame on you goody. Such action is a baddy!

This is not a response to a reply rather a response to all on this thread

Years ago I read about a trapper who had the good intention of putting signs above his bear traps. Knowing that bears couldn't read, his warning read: "TRAP BELOW." His good intention had the opposite effect, he failed to trap a bear but succeeded in trapping a human. He figured the smell of the paint on the signs made the bears wary. He also realized that the humans in the area were illiterate. One got a bit too curious about the odd symbols posted.

So, I don't know if I'm dealing with bears or illiterates.
It was obvious not only to me but to other posters that bait was laid to prove my point. Some took the bait and proved it amply, indeed.

Am I a coward? Considering that I've discussed points many times on Chit-Chat with others who just wanted to spit venom, no. As a former USFS Helitack Fireline/Paramedic 1, you may ask my USFS colleagues if a coward would run into a forest fire to administer aid to others. No coward here. Is it more cowardly just to insult with no points made? I think so.

I wisely choose not to engage in middle school pissing contests with juvenile minded posters. I'm done with that. It is pointless and exceedingly boring.

Does anger come from fear? Quite often it does. Ask a shrink or do a little research. If you ask a shrink, ask yourself if this could be a time for personal growth. If you think you don't need personal growth, make an appointment before the shrink gets away.
