Aloha amehta,

I am expecting some money in the next week or two as part of my return to Hawai'i funds. I realize what your saying about used items and am set on which Nikon lens to buy and will be taking a chance even on a used one.

I've checked KEH on several occasions in the past and they never compared to the stores in question. I will look once the money is here just in case.

In all reality no one at my income level should even consider this type of investment but I believe in living for today not a distant future that may never come especially for a disabled senior. I've also had my life threatened for three years on a consistent basis by the drugged out morons I've had to live with and that has been a big part of this decision.

Mahalo again for the input.

Aloha L.H.

I totally understand about finances. Hopefully the lens you want will be available at one of the places when you're ready to buy it.

Lost, I have bought from both and have been very satisfied with both
BUT, in the last few years BH has shown a real indifference to resolving some small issues, I felt they were petty.
So I'm giving more and more business to Adorama. I am also a big fan of Adorama TV and want to support such a good program and service to the foto community. Yes, BH has something similar, but I prefer Adoramas program.
Both have a rep her on the Hog. Ado has Helen, and BH has Hershel. Both have been great from what I've seen. Good luck, save the money. ;-)
SS

Plus, being a man(my wife tells me that), I'd rather deal with a really hot super model than a little, short, fat, bald headed man!!  (sorry Hershel).

Mahalo SharpShooter,

Yes I've seen company's do that exact thing and too many in the last decade seem to feel they are above good customer service. Verizon for one will never see any of my business again.

I will probably go with the savings if both are available when the funds arrive.

Your last sentence just cracked me up and being an old guy I would as well.

Aloha L.H.

......For some reason I think I remember that Adorama has a better warrantee on used equipment. At least check it out.

Items rated D, E+, E and E- come with a 6-month warranty; those rated G & V, come with 90 days. In both cases you have a 30-day returns period.

Mahalo Helen for responding on this post and for the information regarding your stores policies. If you read all my posts you can see that I'm aware of most of those advantages.

On B&H's "8+" item they only have a 90 day warranty from my understanding so yours is twice as long and I appreciate this type of customer care.

I've also seen you respond to everyone's concerns here on UHH like you have with mine and that is appreciated also.

I'm looking forward to doing business with you if possible.

Aloha, LostHawaiian

Very happy with B&H. Had a very bad experience with Adorama customer service. Unfriendly and not very helpful. After a few very disappointing telephone conversions I told the customer service rep that in my opinion Adorama had the worse customer service I had ever dealt with and why, but she did not seem to care.

I'm really so very sorry to see this, and would welcome the opportunity to understand more about the problem.
Is it possible that you could email me directly with your order number: Helen@adorama.com so that I can look into the matter?

Thank you

Helen

Helen, it has been a couple of years since my unfortunate experience with Adorama so I don’t have an order number. But I appreciate your willingness to look into it. Thank you.

both are excellent to do business with, as well as KEH.com B+h also has a customer ambassador like Helen oster of adorama. KEH has the best prices on used gear.

have used both. very satisfied w/ each. i tend to look @ merchants

in this manner: i don't think very many are out to gouge the public;

having said that, i know they must make a profit; how much of a

profit is up to the consumer. when buying new for my kit i will

do a search for best price only amongst the more up standing

on line merchants ie: adorama, cameta, b&h, amazon, 42 st., tri

state etc. i'm certain i left off someone's favorite.

i won't pay tax, if i can avoid it; living in il, i pay enough to our

crazy governor and his liberal cronies. shipping sometimes isn't an

option on smaller, lower priced items.

keh puts a free 6 month warranty on everything they sell except as is. they also do camera repairs. on top of that every lens I got from KEH has been cleaned and looks brand new. do not be afraid to order items rated bgn or ug. I have gotten terrific prices on lenses and bodies that work fine but have a few cosmetic flaws.

I deal with Adorama & B&H almost to the exclusion of everyone else. I like Cameta also, but most of the time I find that Adorama has the best deals, best service and always whenever I contact them they always are courteous and professional. Their return policy is excellent. I recently purchased a used lens from them and sold them 2 of my lenses. They were extremely fair and even paid the shipping to send them my old lenses. This used lens looks and performs just like new. Not even a mark on it anywhere that I can find.
That being said, IMO B&H is a close second. However, as a member of UHH, after seeing the way Helen Oster responds to concerns of our members, you just can't match Adorama for customer service! I wish every business would treat their customers like they have treated me..
