I like them both too. Different moods.

Just a different feel to the shot.

I prefer the color version simply because of the reflection in the water, but it looks nice either way. Scott

Thanks Scott, appreciate you commenting. Welcome to the UHH. 8-)

color; more interest; colors are what the picture is all about.

I like color 99.9% of the time! Sorry....I know it is a flaw in my character. :)

Thank you both for commenting. 8-)

Anyone who's been to Jones Beach, or any of the beaches along Fire Island, knows that in the winter it's stark and gray and desolate.

My vote is for the black and white.

That's a really great shot and I do like both a lot. But I think the B&W rocks.

Def b&w for me.
The scene evokes a cool fall/winter day for me, and the b&w version seems to bring that mood out more. Very nicely taken, and composed shot also.

Thanks for viewing and commenting Shadow Ridge. 8-)

Colour for me hands down. The toned image is lovely but colour wins because the hues are limited (basically) to rust and blue and, as such, there is no competition for attention.

I like both, but the color is my favorite. For me B&W images were best depicted by Ansel Adams & he exposed for different areas of the photograph; kinda hard to do without PP for B&W digital. However great job on both.

Thanks for commenting and the thumbs up JWT. 8-)

Does this photograph have more appeal in a color or monochrome rendition?

Photographed at the Jones Beach State Park boat basin, New York, during the winter. Settings: ISO 100, 18mm, f/11, 1/60 of a second. Late afternoon light.

Select download for full resolution. Critique, comments and suggestions welcomed. Thanks. 8-)

The B&W is nice but you can't beat the color. Just my opinion.

Sure Wahawk go for it! And thanks for asking first, not everyone does. :D

Thank you for letting me show this possibility! I don't always like the effect, but I think these do "work" but not be to everyone's liking!

Too hard to choose. Both are really beautiful.

Wow, that is a hard one as they both are fantastic. I will choose the color only because I like to get the feel of what the landscape really looks like. Nice pictures Bmac!
