How often is a crime averted because a legally licensed individual pulls a gun, not even having to fire a shot? How often does a legally licensed gun owner fire a shot, thus saving himself or other victims of a crime? Are the statistics on gun deaths accurate? Do they tell the true story? How many deaths were caused by illegally owned guns during the commission of a crime? How many deaths were the bad guys, shot in self defense?

In the late 1700's prior to the Revolutionary War, the British tried to control the colonists' guns. Had they been successful, there would not have been a U.S. and no one to bail the Brits out of WWI and WWII using - of all things - guns!

In the Aurora, CO theater shooting, the theater had a "no guns" policy. So when the shooting started, the only one with a gun was the bad guy. I wonder what would have happened if there were some others who were legally armed sitting in the audience. In fact, I wonder if the perpetrator would have even tried to shoot up the theater if he knew that there would be other armed people there who might shoot back.

Now, look at what's going on in our government today. We have a president who ignores The Constitution, successfully stonewalls investigations into impeachable offenses by him and his administration and largely controls the press. Thankfully, the people are starting to see the light, but we have three more years of a president who wants to "fundamentally" change America - into a socialistic, totalitarian country. Gun control is not the issue - people control is. Gun control is just another piece of the agenda towards disarming the people and allowing him to further his agenda of people control.

you gotta love the "popcorn" defense. Why? Because a mature (retired) police officer felt so threatened in a movie theater by flying popcorn that he drew his pistol and killed a man and wounded the man's wife because he felt threatened - and some of you yahoos want to defend him? Think about it...do you have anything but disgust for his "reaction"? Examine why anyone would defend such behavior. Just THINK! (It isn't all that difficult once you get the hang of it.)

Lets allow the courts handle this, unless there is an opening on the grand liberal calendar that a lynching would fit into. Don't know enough to take a stand on this case, but beleive and trust the justice system.

A typical, well thought out, cogent and intelligent reply by a liberal. Just more proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

JoboX,

Imagine you are sitting in a movie theater or a school function or anywhere you presently feel safe as can be. Suddenly a man/woman comes in with a rifle and starts shooting those around you and you are certainly next up in the queue. From behind you comes another shot and the man with the rifle falls to the ground, dead. The shot from behind you is me or any of millions of other Americans who are properly authorized to carry a concealed firearm. Let's consider you are riding a subway in New York City. A man gets on and starts shooting passengers. Who would you want sitting next to you, anti gun Sarah Brady or somebody with a concealed firearm who knows what to do and does it? The armed intruder gets into the Newtown School. The principal walks out to see what is happening but instead of being shot down she is armed and kills the intruder. In England you have no chance of any saving grace from armed bystanders. Maybe you should complain to the two knife wielding Muslims who beheaded one of your soldiers in the street in front of numerous bystanders who stood and stared. Not one of them would assist except for one woman who confront the killers AFTER he was dead. I have friends in England who hunt and who own rifles and shotguns. You must know that if the man's wife was attacked by a knife wielding killer and he shot the man dead with his legal shotgun that it is HE who would go to prison for defending his wife.

Anti gun people in America would have the world believe that all Americans run around with machine guns, assault rifles, shooting from cars indiscriminately and on and on. Generally speaking that only happens in movies my friend. In real life hundreds of thousands of citizens are saved by the presence of a firearm, often without the gun even being fired. As for assault rifles or any firearms for that matter the percentage of killings in America are far less than 1%. Possibly you are not aware that knives are used as a murder weapon 7 times more than firearms in America.

You are right. It is not part of your culture but it used to be and the people of the UK were safer then.

Darn it I forgot one point I wanted to make: In America the states with the least restrictive gun control are the safest states to live. If you live in a state like Illinois or New York (city) there is a much higher murder rate.
